Hola, amigos. I know it's been a long time since I rapped at ya, but I got a lot on my plate these days. Seriously, it was a shake-n-bake couple a weeks. A few weeks back my youngest bro MGD graduated from my alma-mater over in M-town and headed off to Arkansas to start on his Masters/PHD. Smart little shit! It was a great weekend partying with the fam though. The first night my other younger bro N-dawg gave me a run for my money slamming through a case of beer, but as always, the older bro prevailed! Smackdown! Of course we both suffer from the "drunk/loud/drunker/louder/really drunk/plug your damn ears" syndrome. In case you don't know what that is, try carrying on a conversation with us after we've had a good portion of a case of beer. You will plug your ears. And then put earmuffs on. So the rest of the weekend was pretty kick-ass. We went to see MGDs senior design project which crushed all the other projects. The only improvement to the hovercraft he built was if it could bring me a beer! At least his run, unlike mine. I did manage to snag a Wii that weekend! Image I had to travel 2000 miles just to get a damn Wii! I waited outside the Target for a good half-hour before they opened to make sure I got one. I didn't want to go through the same shit as last time. So the rest of the weekend was spent at my other brother D-money's house kicking it playin' Wii, drinkin' Buds, and trying to wear his Black Lab Buddy out with fetch. It was an awesome weekend!

K filled you in on the action-packed weekend we had with her brother and sister-and-law. That was a blast! This past weekend was filled with lots of beer. We finished up Bbbb's birthday week in style by hangin' out at Zeitgiest on a warm sunny day. Lots and lots of beer and good burgers. Don't go to the ATM across the street though. It's a total rip-off. They only let you take out $100 max and charge you a $3 fee. Bitches. So the rest of the night was a blur. I vaguely remember going to Pizza Orgasmica and then trying to get a cab back. Very, very blurry though. Yesterday Sweetie-J made us a kick-ass Chinese feast. It was awesome! S and D were also there and we just hung out all night eating the tons o' food.

Well, I'll rap at ya later, I have to recover from my 11 mile run today. You bunch of slackers.

Jim Anchower wannabe (alter ego of S-dawg)

MWF, 32, looking for new liver...

Me: short, fat, hates my job but loves my booze.
You: functioning.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Bbbbb!

Woo hoo! It's your birthday! Please note that today is 6/6/07. Last year, Bbbb's birthday was 6/6/06. Which makes him, well, "special" I guess.

We are looking forward to celebrating 2 times with Mr. Bbbb! And to that we are NOT saying Phtbhhthbhht!

Visit with the Poohs...

So last weekend saw the Poohs make the trek to SF to spend some time touring around with Yours Truly and Blondie. WE HAD A BLAST!

Mr and Mrs Pooh landed Friday afternoon, which ended up being quite an accomplishment. The airline they flew (I won't name names, but it rhymes with ShUnited), managed to screw up 3 out of their 4 flights this past weekend. Their flight from Lex to Chicago was delayed, and they didn't think they would make their Chicago flight, but they did, only to find out the Chicago flight was delayed. Anyhoo, after a LONG day travelling, they finally got to leave the airport and ride the train to the city with me.

Then, just to put a capper on their day, Blondie and I inadvertently took them for a tour of the T-Loin trying to find the restaurant we wanted to take them to. A few beers after dinner and that concluded our evening. After all, they are totally on Eastern time.

Saturday we met them early and rode the cable cars to Lombard Street. Mr Pooh decided to put his vibe out (i.e. he stuck his ass out really far while we rode the cable cars, and almost got nailed by a cable car going the other way) We also had a super sarcastic driver (he was fabulous), who when someone asked if the car we were on was going to Fisherman's Wharf, he replied that it was actually going to San Diego). When we got to Lombard, we walked down it and took a peek at the Real World house before slowly making our way to Ghiradelli Square.

From there it was slowly ambling down to Fisherman's Wharf to see the sea lions and get snack before hopping our boat to Alcatraz. When mom and sis came to visit and we toured Alcatraz, we didn't do the audio tour which turned out to be a HUGE mistake. The audio tour rocked. After Alcatraz, we had some lunch and drinks, and then caught the F-Train back to Powell.

All of us were beat so we just head back to the hood for some beers, pizza, movie and Wii!

On Sunday, The Poohs caught the train out to the hood again and met me and Blondie for breakfast. From there we hit the Pacific Ocean, the bison paddock in GGPark, the Tea Gardens in GGPark, Full House Park and the Painted Ladies, the GGBridge, and finally Grace Cathedral (the most gorgeous building I've ever been in).

We spent the rest of the afternoon doing some shopping, some eating, and some more movie watching.

It was so good seeing the Poohs, especially seeing as how it's been almost a year since we last saw them! Now, I just have to make it back to Lex to see The Cutest Kid in the World before she realizes it's been way too long since I've seen her!

Thank you guys! We had the bomb time!

I'm money baby...

So, I'm off to Vegas yet again. With Blondie yet again. I think we are going to see how many times we can make it to the City o' Sin in a year (nov '06 to nov '07). So far he has been 3 times, and yours truly has been 2. This next trip bumps us up to 4 and 3 respectively.

We'll be there in June to celebrate Grandma S's birthday (Blondie's grandma on his mom's side), and celebrating with the majority of Blondie's family unit. Blondie is staying 5 days, I'm flying in for 1. That's right. 1 day. Fly in Monday, come back Tuesday.

I'm going to predict how my blog will sound when I come back from that trip: "OMG! Then it was 5 am and I was TRASHED! And I lost so much MONEY!" :)

One thing constant about me, is that I like my booze and my gambling.

Getting excited!!!

The Co-Creators of the Cutest Kid in the World (aka Mr and Mrs Pooh, aka my brother and sister-in-law) are coming for a visit this Friday! We have major plans, all of which involve NOT WORKING. Wooty woo!

In addition to the visit, Mr Pooh is graduating in 2 weeks with his MBA. Not only did he do this while working full-time and having a baby in there (technically Mrs Pooh of course had the baby - which I imagine is the hard part!!!), he did it with a 4.0 GPA!

Can't wait to see you guys (and a 2 week early congratulations!).

Given the go ahead...

Finally. The news that makes me go Whee!

Brother R is a consultant for a major company. He goes every week, all week, to different cities working on various projects. This week he got named Chief Architect (in an of itself is a HUGE deal) for a project located in... wait for it... wait for it... SAN FRANCISCO!!!!

He will be here mid-June, approximately 1 block from my current work!

Can you spell party? Because I can: Y-O-U-R-S-T-R-U-L-Y-A-N-D-B-R-O-T-H-E-R-R (and blondie of course!!!!)

See you in June!!!

Milwaukee trip...

Somehow I left off some other GREAT news. Blondie is off to the land o' cheese this weekend to see his youngest brother graduate with his bachelors degree in electrical engineering! Blondie and his family will be going to Bro's senior design exhibit on Friday and then to Bro's graduation on Saturday.

Bro heads off to Arkansas on Sunday b/c Bro is immediately starting a PhD program at University of Arkansas in nanotechnology!

Congratulations Bro!!! A word of advice from someone older (not wiser, just older): if you don't want to be yacking your guts out on Saturday, avoid beer darts with the fam on Friday.

Party C, B2B, Graduating Shelby, and News that makes me go Whee!

PARTY C:
First off, a 1-day belated big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the fabul-osio Party C! I wanted to steal Bbbb's idea and spell it out in naked people, but alas, I didn't have the heart. Happy Birthday C! The weekend was a BLAST!

B2B:
So, this past Sunday was the Bay-to-Breakers race in SF. It's a 7.5 mile run from the Bay Bridge out through the city to the ocean. It's also one of the biggest party days in the city. There were over 60,000 runners, but probably 75% of them, just dressed in costume (or went naked) and pushed kegs/floats with kegs on them the entire course.

I saw more, um, naked bits Sunday morning than I've seen my entire life.

Me, Blondie, Party C, Wonderbutt, and Aussie B to name a few were also trashed by 8:45 am. Along with the 30,000 revelers that stood along the race route to cheer on everyone.

GRADUATING SHELBY:
Shelby Shelbs is now the official "owner" of an MBA from 1 of the most prestigious MBA schools in the country! Congratulations Shelby!!!! We are so proud of you!

NEWS THAT MAKES ME GO WHEE!:
Unfortunately, I can't sure this news yet. But let me say, oh it's good. It's so good. When I get the official go-ahead, I'm going to post it immediately. Not being able to tell is killing me.

Happy summer all!

Overheard...

Training Dept Person #1: Today is my ex-boyfriend's birthday today. May he rot in hell.
Training Dept Person #2: No animosity huh?
TDP#1: NONE! I meant that in love.
The Birthday Weekend...

Since Blondie is being stubborn (to put it nicely :), I'll fill you all in on "The Birthday Weekend". You owe me Blondie.

Lessons learned:
1) Sweetie J often claims she is President of the Blondie Fan Club. IT'S TRUE!
2) Bartenders that seem mean to begin with often rock after a few beers.
3) We get more free drinks here in SF, than we ever did in the DFW metroplex.
4) Sweetie J makes a MEAN FRIED CHICKEN!
5) Party C makes MEAN BROWNIES!
6) Bbbb buys some MEAN TALL BOY MILLER LITES!
7) Party C became the official Vice-President of the Blondie Fan Club.
8) I think that makes my title of the Blondie Fan Club "groupie".

On Friday, Blondie met me a little early, and we headed off to Union Square to get some drinks (i.e. about 5 beers and a shot). Bbbb met us there and imbibed with us for a bit. When it was time to head over to Sweetie J's for aforementioned fried chicken, we asked for our check at which point the bartender gave us all free shots (#2, #3 above).

On our walk to Sweetie J's, we got distracted. Mostly by Blondie showing off his Unabomber impression. Bbbb and I followed about 15 feet behind him and watched people practically dunk under cars to avoid Blondie.

Then we got distracted again as we walked through Chinatown. We got distracted by a bar and had to seriously talk ourselves out of stopping for "just 1 more drink".

Then finally! Sweetie J's!!!! Some of the best food I've ever eaten (par for the course at her house). Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, cornbread, corn on the cob, homemade strawberry shortcake. Basically, "Heaven on a Plate". Or "Fried Chicken of Heaven". Or "Heaven in my belly".

Sigh. Can it be Blondie's birthday every weekend?

Then it was Saturday. The Actual Birthday. Bbbb picked us up and we enjoyed some tamales at the Farmer's Market. After the FM, Blondie and I hit the TacoBell/KFC (b/c god knows we hadn't eaten our weight in fried chicken on Friday night) for some grub. Bbbb showed back up around 3 pm with "presents" (#6 above). Party C joined us shortly thereafter with "presents" (#5 above) which made her title in the Blondie Fan Club official (#7 above). Needless to say, we got a little messed up and Blondie went to bed EARLY and SICK and A BIT GREEN.

All in all, a success! Thank you everyone who helped celebrate Blondie's Birthday! You all are rock stars!

--K

P.S. I'd like to acknowledge Sweetie J's roomie for giving us the term "B Unit". Everyone needs a "B Unit" in their life.

My apartment building is going to be on TV!!!!

So, it's not as good as *ME* being on TV, but I'll take it.

The pilot that filmed on our block was picked up by ABC and will be part of their fall line-up!

Everyone - I can feel your jealousy from here. It's not attractive. Maybe one day, your home will be on TV too.

Happy Birthday Chompers! I hope you have a great weekend!

Yeeee-haw!

Go Giants! Blondie and I went to our first SF baseball game last night and had a BLAST! The stadium is gorgeous, the beer was plentiful, the weather was insanely nice, and apparently, 9 run innings happen for the Giants. In addition to 9 runs in 1 inning, we also saw live and in-person, a bat break in half. I was laughing so hard that I missed the rest of the play, but what I saw on the replay on the giant screen was incredible.

Also, a big (5 day late) giant HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the most fabulous Mississippi Queen I know! Happy Birthday WC! I hope you had a great day with your cajun food and your Cakebread!

I'm kind of in a rambling mood today, so I'm going to tell a story that probably nobody will find funny but me. My cubicle at work backs up to the training department. There are 3 people in that department that are really good friends and carry on the most insane conversations you will ever hear. They discuss everything from why they sleep on their backs (right before they went anorexic, they realized that they could train their stomachs to sink inwards while they slept at night, but only if they slept on their backs) to news items (the kid that had 2 spiders in his ears).

Yesterday they got into a discussion about "Girls Next Door" - a show about Hefner's girlfriends.

Person #1: I hate that show. They are such ditzes.
Person #2: There's Holly. She's the main girlfriend. She's totally a ditz.
Person #1: And they are all TOTALLY fake blondes! TOTALLY! I hate that show!
Person #2: And Kendra. She's sporty. Who's the last one?
Person #3: Uh, Holly... Kendra... Who is the 3rd?
Person #1: Bridget! She's my favorite! Remember that episode where she got her cat shaved?
Person #3: I thought you hated that show.
Person #2: I thought you hated the girls.
... crickets chirping ...

Hahahaha. Another day in the life of my job.

It's over already...

It felt like they just got here, and then they had to leave. But OMG. Did we cram a whole bunch of stuff into a few days or what?!?! I don't think my legs/feet will ever be the same, and Blondie is having some knee problems.

So, mom and sis landed and Blondie met them at the airport. I ended up taking the BART out to meet them, and from the airport we went out to GG Park. We stopped to see the bison paddock, and inadvertently stumbled over a clown sprawled out on the grass just watching the bison. It was a nice intro to the sights and sounds of SF, if I do say so myself. From the bisons, we went and took a bunch of pics in front of the windmill. I don't think I've laughed so hard as I did when my mom tried to take a pic of me, Blondie, and sis. She kind of contorted herself backwards, and anyway, I can demonstrate the pose for you if you'd like. Then we went to check out the ocean, whereas mom in her infinite wisdom, thought we should stick our feet in it. Because it's the Pacific Ocean. Because she didn't fly all that way to not put her feet in it. Of course it was like a bathtub filled with nothing but ice cubes, and the wind was whipping so hard that we ate a gallon of sand for a mid-afternoon snack. But it was fun. Especially when she drug me way out on the beach b/c the "tide was going out and we need to catch it" and then the tide came rip-roaring back in, and we got nailed by the water. And then my sis just laughed and laughed. And got it on video.

After dinner on their first day, we took a drive up to Twin Peaks. (Side note: When Blondie and I first broke the news to the fam that we were moving to SF, we took a map home so they could see a layout of SF. Brother R pointed to the map and said "Look! Twin Peaks!". Mr. Pooh said "No worries Brother R. In 20 years, they'll be twin sags anyway"). The view was incredible and we probably would've stayed longer, but someone's (2 someone's actually) teeth were chattering so loudly it made it hard to talk.

Friday, we drove out to GG Bridge and walked across for a bit to look at the views. Then we drove Lombard Street, where we seriously wondered about the breaks on the car and whether or not we would get down the street safely. From there it was a trip to Alamo Square (aka Full House Park), and then lunch back in the 'hood followed by shopping up and down Haight. Friday night, we caught the train (first time on public transportation for mom/sis while in SF) to Inner Sunset for more shopping and pizza. We also caught a much more crowded train back, and while Blondie really wanted to ride the bus home, mom and sis insisted on walking the hell-hill to get home.

Saturday, we toured Alcatraz. We got some great pics in there, particularly one of my mom in a cell trying to make a sad face. The sad face turned out to be ridiculous looking and all of us had a good laugh. After Alcatraz, we went and had lunch in Fisherman's Wharf and then visited with the sea lions. A walk to Ghiradelli Square, and an inadvertent drive up to Coit Tower finished off our afternoon.

Sunday was "mass transpo" day to the fullest. We rode down to the mall on the train (hahahah - mom did a full-body hug on one of the rails to hold onto) and caught the Cable Car back to Fisherman's Wharf.
(I'm probably going to piss mom off by telling this, but when she was out here 33 years ago, her and my dad rode the cable cars. She admits she was a little young, a little naive, but when they rode the car, she had a flasher ride directly in front of her and slap her in the knee with his "Mr Winkie" the entire ride from Powell to the Wharf, and she didn't realize what was going on until the end of the ride when she happened to look down. Anyway, we hopped the cable car and Blondie was riding in front of mom, and he pulled his sunglass case out and started tapping mom on the knee. Tics to visit family in SF: $330, tics to ride cable cars: $5, look on mom's face when Blondie started up on the cable cars: priceless)
Then, we made mom and sis walk back up through North Beach to ChinaTown. We shopped and dined for awhile, before slowly slowly slowly making our way to Union Square (all of us were BEAT by then), before catching a combination of train/bus home. A fart contest between the 3 women completed the night nicely (and stinkily).

And this morning we said goodbye. Which was the worst part of it all.

THANK YOU GUYS FOR COMING TO VISIT!!!! We had so much fun! And we miss you already!!!!

On their way...

So, my darling mother thought it would be funny to give me a call today when they left for the airport. At 4:30 am Eastern time.

My sister, who apparently takes after me in terms of brain-power, managed to convince her that was a bad idea.

I think tonight, I'm going to take my phone into the bedroom with me and call my mom at 2 am. Just to see what happens. :)

The results are in...

Muffy whipped my pathetic butt. Whipped it. Yours truly completed that 5K in 42:49. Sigh. Last year I was running 32 min 5K's. This year, I'm apparently strolling them.

However, Muffy did NOT whip Blondie's butt. As a matter of fact, it was the other way around! Blondie ran his 10K in 59:33!!!! Go Blondie!

Yours truly is hurting a little bit today. A few beers at the bar in the 'hood with Party C, turned into a blotto-fest last night. Leftover pizza was the obvious choice for breakfast today, so now not only am I hungover, I'm also stuffed full of greasy food. Ugh.

Muffy Run...

To quote Blondie: "hehe. You said Muff".

In a supreme effort to boost my motivation to lose some weight again, I've taken the drastic step of starting to sign me and Blondie up for races again. Our first one is this Sunday, and it's called the Muffy Run. (If Blondie wears that t-shirt to his gym, I'm sure he'll be hit on a million times over ;)

My body is screaming at me for doing this. It sounds something like this: "You stupid stupid girl. What are you thinking?!?! You can't run! And it's EARLY in the morning. You big dummy".

I'm trying to scream back at my body. But unfortunately, it sounds like this: "I LIKE BEER! I LIKE PIZZA!"

Yep, sometime in the last 6 months, I got pathetic.

A big shout out to the fabulous Shelby Shelbs! It's her "3 years from 30" birthday today! HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHELBY! Have a great day!

Goopy eye...

I don't know what I did, but I do know that I did something on the 13th of April. I woke up last Saturday morning, and my right eye was "glued" shut. It still looks awful. I honestly look like I've been punched in the face. It's not attractive. To make matters worse, I can't get a contact in that eye, so I have to wear my glasses. And I can't put any makeup on that eye either (it's puffed up like you wouldn't believe). So I've been sporting the no-makeup, glasses-wearing, funky-eyed look since Saturday.

So. Totally. Hot.

In better news, mom and sis land in 9 days for a weekend of touring around SF! Blondie will be picking them up at the airport, and yours truly is getting off work early that day, so hopefully we all meet up at the apartment around 3 pm or so. Can't wait guys!

This explains it all...

I've had a bad week. I couldn't figure it out. I've lived here 6.5 months, and have literally loved everyday I've been here. Maybe I haven't loved everyday ALL DAY (there have been parts that I hate), but still, the good parts have far outweighed the bad parts every single day thus far.

Until this week.

Then it went to hell.

It's been a miserable week. From the MUNI crapping out each day (they put a new line in, and it started full-time operations on Monday), to facing the fact that I've "plumped" up again. It's just been not good. I've never been so happy for Friday.

So what explains it all you ask? Today is Friday, yes indeed. Friday the 13th. And there you go. The capper on my craptacular week.

--K

Thursday, April 05, 2007

So everyone is aware...

Blondie hurts b/c he's sick. Silly.

I'm having a weird craving for meatloaf and mashed potatoes. I don't like meatloaf.

No. I'm not pregnant. Don't ask.

Ouch. Still hurt.

It all started out innocently enough. After a jog to the bank I was going to meek K in Cole Valley when she was heading home from work. We were 'planning' on just walking up and stopping at the corner grocery store for fajita supplies. Since I was running late, she decided to stop in at our favorite Cole Valley spot for a tasty beverage and wait. By the time I got there B was en route and I was thirsty. A couple beers later we decided our favorite bar had a mysterious quality about it... it sucked you in and made you drink... heavily. We broke free of the spell just long enough to head on back to the apartment. Of course breaking free didn't mean we were done drinking, it just meant it would be easier on the wallet drinking at home. The party quickly doubled after Party C, Wonder Butt (WB), and H all came over. Over the course of the night I battled with a bottle of Appleton Estate Rum and came very close to winning. Luckily I had the good sense to pass out before that last couple shots were finished. Now there's a bottle with two shots left in it taunting me. Damn that bottle of rum!

The rest of the weekend was filled with watching the Final 4 tournament, eating fantastic turkey hotdogs, and drinking my good friend Miller Light. Ah, Miller Light... it never has a chance to taunt me!

Monday I made up for it all though. At least that's what I tell myself. I went out for what I thought was going to be a nice short run, but it ended up turning into a 7.5 mile excursion to the ocean and back. It was the furthest I've run in a couple months. It was excellent. And now I hurt. A lot. Everywhere.

Cuh-Ray-Zee...

After being at work for 4 days (but actually only training for 2 days), I got tossed in the shark tank last night. I was left to finish up on my own, 2 major releases that our ready for our company. Of course, I shone. Because I'm a shining star. Because that's just how I roll. Anyways, after my 9.5 hour day yesterday (not complaining, but honestly, my first week and I'm already working 9.5 hour days????), it's going to be an early night tonight. With steak fajitas lovingly prepared by my Blondie. He thinks I'm going to help. I'm laughing that he thinks that. CHOMP!

"It's tequila time!"...

I had an insane MUNI driver in this morning. He talked the entire way over the intercom. My new favorite quote has got to be that guy. We were pulling into the stop after I got on, and he kept saying "Happy weekend! It's tequila time!" I wonder if I say that at my job, if people would think it was funny or if they would just think I'm a drunk (hush, I know I am, you know I am, but they don't know that yet).

I want to be on TV...

Agh! They are filming a pilot for a TV show all weekend long on my block!!! Blondie is pissed because we can't park on our street. But I intend to spend my weekend strutting my fat ass up and down the street, hoping to land a guest spot on the show. Maybe Danny Glover is in it?!??! My plan to meet him as failed dismally thus far - so here's keeping my fingers crossed!

--K

Wednesday, March 28, 2007

So, Blondie keeps saying that if I catch everyone up to date on what's been going on, he'll maintain the blog for a bit... I don't think he's telling the truth, so I'm going to find out. I'm going to catch you all up, and then we'll see if Blondie keeps his promise...

Rot Duke! And that nasty game of knee-ball!
The weekend of 3/16 was a beautiful one for many reasons. The first being that my FAVORITE basketball team got knocked out of the NCAA tourny in the first round. Go Duke! We heart you! (sarcasm for those who don't quite get it)
In addition, my other FAVORITE basketball team won their first round game in the NCAA tourny! Go UK! I bleed blue! Sometimes! When you are playing in the tourny! And you are winning!

The night that KY won (the day after Duke lost), Party C and Carrie with a B came over. We were going to do it "low key" seeing as how the next day was St Patty's day (sarcasm is still going on here) but come on, it's the party gang. No such thing as low key. We put away a lot. Blondie and I had bought this spider thing in Vegas - it's a vibrating spider like thing that you put over your head. It's heaven in a spider vibrating thing. Blondie snuck up behind Party C, put that thing on her head, and she did a leap from one side of our apt to the other, and fell into our bar with her arm through the wine rack. She managed to crack her elbow, her head, and her knee AND she managed to laugh hysterically the entire time.

The point is - the next day when she mentioned her knee hurt and couldn't figure out why, Carrie with a B broke out the most hysterical thing ever - "It was obviously that game of knee-ball that you lost". HAHAHA. Still laughing about it!

St Patty's Day (or how I referred to it in drunken text - St Patr's)...
Oh. My. Goodness. Party C and I decided we needed grease, and hit Pork Store bright and early. Blondie and Carrie with a B decided they needed exercise and hit the gym - which is really what I should've done (SARCASM x a gazillion). From PS, it was trip over to Martin Mack's which was HOPPING at 11 am. Then we hit the bar in the 'hood, where we staked out prime real-estate (the edge of the bar by the door), were joined by Blondie, Carrie with a B, Porn King, Girlfriend J, Sweetie J, and her good friend, uh, D. I don't have a good nickname for D so he'll just be D.

Sweetie J and Party C both hit it off with a striking gentleman named Bob. Bob was a young stud, admired by all women, and was not particular about who he rubbed up against. Bob won my heart too. But I don't think my cats would've liked a new man in their lives. And besides, Bob is a dog. He stood guard over the bar in the 'hood for a bit while his owner imbibed in a few. Since we were right by the door, we decided we would watch him, and that involved leaving the bar every 3 seconds to give good old Bob a rub. What a sweetie. Maybe he'll become Sweetie Bob and we'll have to give Sweetie J a new nickname - Vodka Queen maybe? :) Love you Sweetie J!

The Last Week of Work at the Despised Job...
Not much to say, but it's over and done with. It was sad. I miss those guys like crazy. But honestly, it was with a light step that I left the old building for the last time. And besides, I sent the best goodbye email EVER (Sarcasm has been deleted here, it truly was the best goodbye email EVER). Ahem, "I pretty much rule".

A visit from the J-Man...
A former co-worker made the trek to SF. He came down with a nasty cold and spent half of his time here lying in his bed in his "hostel". But we did manage to get out and do the touristy stuff - we tripped down Haight, over the GG Bridge, through the park, rode the cable cars, saw Lombard, hit Ghiradelli, saw the sea lions, and most importantly - ate a Christian Burger at In-and-Out (Blondie's favorite part of the weekend).

A new job...
It started already. It's the first week. It's slow (obviously, seeing as how I'm blogging).

The familial visits are starting...
Is familial a word? I really don't care - I like to make up my own words anyway (see Chicago/Super Bowl weekend post). Apparently mom and sis kicked off an urge in the Lexington family to start coming out to SF. Mr Pooh and my sis-in-law (co-creators of the Cutest Kid In the World) bought tics to come visit also!!!! We'll be doing a repeat of the "vist from the J-Man", but we'll include a trip to Alcatraz also in that mix. "You can call me Vicky".

And my new favorite quote...
"I'm the most fabulous person you'll meet without actually being fabulous". Party C to Wonder Butt, but I'm pretty sure we are all going to use that line.

Okay Blondie, back to you... Keep us all up to date!

Hottie... Total hottie...

I just got back from the best facial in the world. My skin is glowing, my pores are sparkling clean, and I'm totally refreshed.

Now you'll have to excuse me, I'm off to the bathroom to make eyes at myself in the mirror.

Woo hoo!!!!

Funny story. My mom called the other day and said she had something she's been meaning to tell me for forever, but only thinks about it when it's a time she can't call me (work, etc). (And if you've ever wondered if I'm more like my dad or my mom, let me say that I'm QUEEN of remembering things only when I'm at a time I can't do them - i.e. I need to email so and so but I only remember it when I'm at a bar).

So, the story was that about 32 years ago, her and my dad came to SF for a visit. This was the February time-frame. The night they landed in SF, she started to feel a little queasy. They were here for 5 days, and by day 3, she knew she was pregnant. That baby was yours truly.

She also hated SF. And told my dad that she would never want to raise a child here, and would never want one of her kids to live her.

She ended this story by laughing hysterically and telling me I was always the one who did exactly opposite of what she said.

(I felt compelled the first night we were in Vegas this past time to tell this story to some random woman I met at the craps table. I slurred 3/4th of the words. But that's okay, b/c random woman was also so drunk that I'm sure her ears were hearing slurred words but they were sounding okay).

Anyway, the WOO HOO! part of my story is that my mom is coming to visit!!! Her and my sister are flying out on April 26th and will be spending the weekend touring around with me and Blondie. We are SUPER excited! We will be hitting Alcatraz and riding cable cars and having them meet my friends.

Yay mom and sis! Can't wait to see you!

This is ridiculous...

I'm actually a bit sad. I'm a LOT happy, but a bit sad. I'm in the midst of my last overnight for my company, and it hit me as I'm finishing up sets of servers, that it's the last time I'm going to imp "such and such" server.

Then, since I'm a super fast worker and got the initial bulk of my work done already, I decided to make a list of people I'm going to send my good-bye email to from work. And wow.

I don't like my job, but damn, I like the people. 5 years makes for some super good friendships.

So, here goes - not sure who from work reads this - but if you do, here are my special good-byes:
1) J.U. - I totally heart working overnights with you. Finally, someone as sarcastic as me. You've made me laugh my ass off time and time again. But nothing will make me laugh as hard as the day I was hanging out in your cube and we saw that long long hair hanging off a certain someone's desk and both of us said at the same time "pubic hair!" That can still make me spit pop out my mouth if I think about it while I'm drinking something.
2) V.U. - You are one of the nicest people I've ever met. I don't think I've ever heard you say a bad word about anyone. And the look on your face when D.C. busts out with "punta" is priceless. Stay exactly how you are - don't change a thing.
3) D.C. - My one and only. The guy who gave me shit from the day I started there. Remember this - "I didn't sign off so you can't put the boxes back in service yet!" when we had the power outage that closed our entire building for the day? I'm going to miss so much debating football with you (although we all know the Packers have everything over the Succaneers, and don't get me started on The Cowgirls and Bill Fatcells). You are my bud, absolutely and without a doubt.
4) My gang - you made lunchtimes so much fun. You've made me laugh when I didn't think it was possible to laugh any more. You made Dallas worthwhile. You guys are rock stars.

On that note - 12 business days and counting!!!!

This is my husband Blondie... We call him Double Down...

What a whirlwind. A complete and utter whirlwind. These last few weeks have been just insanely crazy. Here's a rundown on what's been going on. Take a deep breath, sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride that is my life.

1) The job front.
As most everyone knows, Google has been the pinacle of employment in my head for like the last 4 years. I didn't even want to think about switching jobs out here unless it was to work for Google. So with the layoffs happening, I immediately put my resume into Google. And *gasp*, I got a phone screen with them. However, something weird happened. I couldn't even begin to relax about the phone screen. I was so wound up, so tense, I ended up not shining on the phone screen - it wasn't bad, it just wasn't great.

When the layoffs first happened, I also happened to update my resume on monster.

So, the week before my phone screen with Google, I got an email from company B, who happen to have corporate HQ in downtown, about 2 blocks from where I currently work. They had seen my resume on monster and contacted me. I ended up phone screening with company B about 3 days before my Google phone screen.

In the meantime, I got extremely excited about company B - the more and more I thought about it, the more and more I realized I wanted to stay downtown. I did an onsite interview with them on Friday (immediately before I left for Vegas again), and it went FANTASTICALLY WELL. Fantastically well enough that while on the train to the airport after the interview, they called and left me a voicemail that they wanted to bring me on, and would be getting in touch with me as soon as I got back from Vegas.

That's today. I am employed again! Feel free to shoot me an email if you'd like to know where I'm going to work. I just didn't want to post employer's names online. The salary is way fatter than what I make now, NO MORE OVERNIGHTS, the discounts are take your breath away good, NO MORE OVERNIGHTS, the work is something I'm interested in (it's what I do now but in a different kind of way), and have I mentioned NO MORE OVERNIGHTS???

Employment rocks the hizzou. Especially when I'm still employed and will be making the leap from one company to the next with no breaks.

2) Half-marathons...

I bit the bullet and signed me and Blondie up for the Nike Women's Half-Marathon in October. I start training today. And watching what I eat today. And losing weight today. And all that good stuff that goes into training. I'm no WC - I'm not triathalon ready (Go WC!!! I'll be rooting for you in May!), but I've got to get this body back under control again and what better way to do that then to run 13.1 miles???

3) Vegas... Baby... Vegas...

OMG. SO MUCH FUN!!! Blondie met me in the train station as soon as my interview as done on Friday. I was so ready for some gambling, some drinking, some relaxing, I couldn't tell you. And then I felt so good after the interview, and then I got that voicemail on the train about the job - we were on cloud 9.

We hit Vegas and immediately went to our hotel, the Flamingo on the strip (remember, this entire trip was comped out by my current employer). Nate Dawg and Mrs G met us at our hotel and we talked with them for a bit, but they were beat and had a big day ahead of them the next day, so Blondie and I went out by ourselves that night. We started with some craps, and both went up some $. Then we moved to blackjack where I went up even more $, but Blondie went down. Then we moved back to our craps table, where apparently I was so loud when we were there the first time, that the pit boss said "Hi Kerri! Hi Shaun! Welcome back" when we hit his table again - he remembered our names. We gambled until 5 am. I lost my $ but Blondie went up big time!!! It was so much fun. At one point I put my chips down on the Pass Line, but I covered up the P in Pass on accident and then had to point out to the dealers that I was on the Ass Line. Which cracked everyone up. A quick text message with a picture of a beer sent at 5:30 am to brother R completed our night.

We dragged our asses out of bed the next day at 2 pm, and headed straight for yards of margs and mexican food. Then we hit Luxor to get our tickets for our boob show on Saturday night, and headed back down the strip. We took it easy most of the day that day, ended up sitting outside our hotel on the patio on the strip drinking cheap beer. We met up with Nate Dawg and Mrs G and headed back down to Luxor that night to see Fantasy (the boob show). It was a great show - they had some beautiful dancers and the funniest guy in the world who could imitate any famous person you wanted.

Sunday - oh my goodness. It was a day of excess. We hit old school casino on the strip and proceeded to drink the afternoon away playing 25 cent poker. Then we went back down the strip to Casino Royale to get $1 Michelob's. From there it was cheap cheap Leinie's at our hotel, and then we watched the fountains blow at the Bellagio (my all time fav thing to do in Vegas). After the fountains went, we met up with Nate Dawg and Mrs G, and ate some chinese food. It was needed as yours truly was a little stumbly at this point. Then we got more drinks, and more drinks, and whoa. How did it get to be 5 am again? That just happened? Did someone reset our watches?

Pics will follow I promise.

4) Last overnight...

Tonight is my last overnight. This will be it for me. I'm actually looking forward to it, simply b/c it is my last one.

5) Ugh...

And I'm tired.

Cheers all!

Important Questions...

1) How does one display 4" of ass crack and not feel it?

The Scene: VDay, 2007; a bar in the Mission
The culprit: Some guy sitting at said bar

Seriously. I mean seriously. 4" of ass crack. For anyone to stare at. It was god-awful. Party C first pointed it out. It then felt like a train wreck - I really didn't want to watch, but at the same time I couldn't tear my eyes away. Party C got her picture taken with the guy (he wasn't aware). You had to have felt some sort of breeze anytime someone walked by - pull your shirt down please! Or else, put a tip jar out - I would've given you $5 to be so ballsy as to show off that much crack in a public place. Yai yai yai!

2) Where exactly is the hippie toy-store located?

The Scene: GG Park, Feb 17th, 2007; Hippie Hill
The culprit: Everyone in the park except for me, Party C, Blondie, Carrie with a B, Porn King and GirlfriendJ.

It started out innocently enough. Blondie: "Look at the guy with the balls". Pretty soon, it seemed like everyone had toys out. Not just regular toys (frisbees, cards, beers!!!), but hippie toys (hula hoops, scarves attached to strings, cups on strings that you tossed in the air and caught on strings, balls you rolled up and down your arms, etc, etc, etc). Carrie with a B, in excruciatingly hysterical form on Saturday, made a comment that if he came through the area on stilts, he'd fit right in. Which led to a crack about juggling bowling pins while on stilts. Which led to someone (Party C? Blondie?) pointing out the guy juggling bowling pins (he wasn't on stilts though). The drum circle and about 30 beers rounded out the day nicely.

A shout out to Brother Lynn - "Francisco. That's fun to say!" "I'm in a store and I'm singing!"

3) If one has to get up at 3 am to work (on a day that a lot of people had off), how much should one drink the day before?

Who cares? Work sucks anyway.

4) If my burrito smells like ass, should I still eat it?

Hells yes! Because it didn't smell like ass! You were toasted Mr Kilowatt man!

And finally a shout out to Party C - you were a trooper this weekend. I'm still not sure how we do it. And I have to give you kudos - no way could I have eaten only 2 eggs on Sunday, gotten a new tat, and still partied it out Sunday night like you did. Sniff. Party C, you're my hero!!!!

Someone come visit me.

It was a pretty good weekend. Last Thursday was the first of hopefully many poker games to be played with the guys. It looks like it will be a pretty good group. You can always tell that by the sheer volume of beers that we all put away! Friday was another beerfull night out. Brad, C and I whooped it up at Mad Dog in the Fog for the majority of the night while C modeled her stylish new button dress in the bar. Saturday was a day of hangoverness in the morning. The plan to go running in the morning was quickly scraped in favor of the more suitable "don't move from the bed" plan. We did manage to finally leave the city and head out to Berkeley. K, J, C and I all went on a road trip to take J to the dentist, tour the Berkeley campus, grab a bite of Jupiter food, and buy C some shinny new yellow galoshes and umbrella. I dropped them off at Toronodo in the Haight on the way back so they could get some afternoon drinking in while I dutifully headed home and spun my wheels on the project that I'm working on for work. That was a waste, but at least it's looking better now. And finally Sunday was a nice relaxing day sitting in front of the TV and catching up on a weeks worth of DVRs. It must have been the rain on Saturday, because K and I are both sick now with sore throats and stuffy noses. Hopefully that will clear up soon. In the meantime it's lots of chicken noodle soup, orange juice and Nyquil.

Vegas Baby!

Yes, it was a good weekend. As you may or may not know, we have a yearly guys Super Bowl excursion to Vegas. This year was one that will be told to generations upon generations. I ended up a couple hundred up, which was pretty good considering I had a track record of losing my shirt every trip there. However, this story isn't about me and my measly two little bills. It's about a guy name Matt, or more commonly know by the name Lucky Bastard (LB or DLB).

We had a group of about 12 guys total this year, which divided up into half LB's friends and half his Dad's friends. We all get in on Friday at some point in the day. I got in pretty early and met up with Nate and Mike and hung around most of the morning and hit the daily noon poker tournament. Nate and I were knocked out, but Mike made it to the 10 spot, so he ended up getting a payout, which was cool. The rest of the afternoon was pretty nice for me. Craps was by far the most generous that day to me since I was up $400 after a couple hours of play. Generally I was always up during the course of the weekend with a couple times falling back down to even. I played mostly craps and blackjack, but a few spins of the roulette wheel and a couple poker tournaments rounded out the weekend nicely. It's about 9 when LB finally gets in from Dallas with Tracy and Klaus to follow. The rest of the night is spent at various table games. Some of us get to sleep early (around 2) and a couple (LB included) make up some lost time since their planes got in late and pretty much stay up all night. We're awaken at 7am by a DLB (Drunken Lucky Bastard) who stumbles in and declares "I hope you don't mind me putting my huge fricken pile o' money on the floor" as he pulls stacks and stacks out of his pockets and makes a big pile in the middle of the suite. All told the first night he was up around $8K. Not bad for someone so drunk he fell a few times in the hallway coming back to the room! Since we were all staying at the Rio, which is fairly isolated from the strip, they have you at their mercy as far as table limits. They definitely jacked them all up this weekend. There wasn't a $5 game in the house and I only saw 2 tables at $10. So most of the time we had to hit the $15/$25 tables. Normally this would tend to cause larger than normal losses, however, as you can see it was quite the opposite fate for DLB. He started out at the normal rate of $25 a hand and managed to get an early lead and just kept bumping the bets up accordingly... $50, $100, $200, $400, $600... After leaving his big pile o' money on the floor we felt it necessary to at least get one good incriminating pic of him...

The next day was a day of up and down and back to even for me. The one highlight was the full house I hit in Caribbean Stud which paid close to $400. That evening was a completely different story for DLB. I would say LB, but I think he woke up still drunk, so he kept going with the DLB moniker. The evening wore on and his stack kept growing at an amazing pace. Some of us went clubbing to give our up and down funds some stability, if only for a while. In the meantime DLB stuck to the tables to keep the bankroll going. At the end of the night (aka 8am) DLB stumbled in with 20 large. That's right, that DDLB (Damn Drunken Lucky Bastard) just more than doubled his stake in the casino's profits and couldn't even see straight. Toward the end of that night before heading up, he tried to make it over to the restrooms to give back a portion of the Dewar's that he had so generously taken off the Casino's hands, but didn't quite make it. Luckily a trashcan was on the way, so one quick blast from the gut in the trashcan and he was on his way back to the tables. What a trooper!

Superbowl Sunday. The day we came to Vegas for. And ironically we didn't have any Super Bowl party tickets. We had tried various times during the weekend to get reservations, but everything always seemed booked. That is until DLB sat down at a table an hour before Kickoff time. He pulled his stack of hondo's out and started the hands out with 3 bills. Yup, won the first hand. And the second. Split the third and won them both. Doubled down on the forth and got the 10 to double up. All told he won the first 12 hands and 19 out of the first 20. That brought his total up past the $25K that was the highpoint of the weekend. He was well known by the dealers and pit bosses by this point in the weekend and had done something that his Dad hasn't done yet in countless trips to Vegas. Earn Diamond status at the Casino. It is a shiny bright card, which stands out against the dim Gold Status cards that the rest of us had. So right before the Super Bowl he manages (with the help of the real big roller Jim) to get the remaining 4 of us that didn't have tickets yet to a party, some tickets to an open-bar, all-you-can-eat party, with huge wall sized projection screen TVs and a lot of rowdy fans. Not bad. Not bad at all.

And that takes us to a kick ass Super Bowl! It came complete with text wars with Slick (see K's blog below) over who would win the game. Of course the first one I received was simply "Bears". And the first one he got back was "Suck". Not much later he received "Colts" and I got back the "Suck" texts. The exchange was typically done after one side scored. Of course I had to send a couple "Send Griese In" and "Go Grossman" after a superbly timed interception ;-) And with the Colts win, the hated Bears were exposed as wannabes and their fans were united in hating Grossman. Ah, a season well done. Of course we can't leave out that the Packers must have shattered the Bears spirits just enough during the crushing last game of the season, that the Bears knew that they were pretenders all along.

I won 7 out of 8 bets on the game, so I was pretty happy. The Colts won, there was more than 3.5 field goals, more than 1.5 interceptions, the game ended with an even score, the first team that scored lost, there were no safeties, and there was no overtime. The only one I lost was that there were not over 4.5 sacks.

Sunday night was a drunken blur of gambling, clubbing, and only getting an hour of sleep before we had to take off for the airport. All told it was a damn good weekend. All 6 of us left ahead, which is unheard of. It's nice to see the Rio so accommodating in giving us their money when they gave the impression that they wanted to take it all with such high table minimums! The phrase "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" luckily didn't apply to DLB's big pile o' cash.

I got home at around 3pm on Monday and didn't get out of bed until 6am Tuesday Morning. That's definitely a sign that you've just been to Vegas!

Ah, Vegas Baby!

--S
Bear down! Or not...

Chicago was, in 1 giant word made by combining different words, fan-gor-bla-smic. I combined fantastic, gorgeous, blast and orgasmic. Although I honestly just stuck orgasmic on the end b/c I like how it sounds rolled together. Fangorblasmic. Ahh, I like my new word!

Chicago was also very very cold. I landed Saturday early afternoon and called Slick. He informed me that it was "cold" outside. Well, cold can mean anything from "if I had testicles they'd be curled up inside my body" cold to "a sweater will do" cold. It was the testicle cold. I seriously don't think the actual high got over 5 degrees, with temps regularly into the -10 degree area.

Saturday we ended up hitting the bar around 3 pm and shooting pool for several hours. The delightful Miss Funke and Fish joined us around 7 pm. We braved the testicle-cold (TC from now on out) to go to dinner and then we braved TC again to go back to the bar. Then it was back to Slick's to make fun of the new Superman movie. OMG - that movie is BAD. But the new Superman is quite the hottie (although nobody is as hot as my blondie!)

Then it was Sunday. Time to don our Chicago Bears gear and BEAR DOWN. It was still TC so we moved straight from Slick's to the bar. IT WAS INSANE. I can't stress that enough. And when the Bears lost (tee hee!), I honestly thought half the bar was going to line up to throw themselves in front of trucks or something. I was cheering, but I was doing it silently and with a sad look on my face, so I didn't get the shit kicked out of me. The lone Colts fan in the bar did get into a fight - some girl on girl 'fighting' (aka slapping) that had me laughing my ass off.

Monday involved me sleeping more than I thought was possible. I'd periodically wake up to laugh that Slick had to work, and then I'd go right back to napping. But Monday night was a drunken mess. From a huge pitcher of tequila (the restaurant called it margaritas, but they forgot everything that goes into making margaritas except for the tequila), to a bottle of wine back at Slick's, to me and Slick deciding we needed more beer... Top that with the chili I ate for lunch and the mexican I had for dinner...

And that leads us into the longest flight back ever on Tues. Seriously. On a cramped plane, stuck for 2 hours on the tarmac for deicing, landing way late in Oakland, having to take a bus and 2 trains to get home... I could've kissed my toilet and probably would've but I also know the last time we cleaned that thing and while I will let my ass touch it, no other part of my body is allowed near it.

In good news, The Co-Creators of the Cutest Kid in the World (aka my brother and his wife) are coming to visit!!!! Our first official family-visitors! We can't wait to see you guys. Let us know as soon as you buy tics!

Hey blondie - where is your post about the Vegas weekend?

Taking the old liv-liv to drunk town...

In preparation for our various weekend trips (yours truly to Chi-town, blondie to Vegas), we've decided to get in a few good workouts. Specifically, we decided we needed our livers and kidneys in fighting form.

It started innocently enough on Wed. A call from a friend who managed to get herself dumped from jury duty... we needed to celebrate! Yay! No more jury duty! A whole group of us went to eat cheap sushi and drink expensive drinks. Party C left after a bit, she had a hot date to get home to, but the rest of us moved a few streets over to booze it up with the residents of the Financial District. (Blondie had killed himself running out to the Pacific Ocean on Wed, so he was home dying). Jury Duty's sister came out, and it was all bets off by then. Party C's date ended up bailing so she called Blondie and they went out in our 'hood. Yours truly kept pouring them down in the Fi-Di.

Then, it was time to go home. But not quite. Instead of just doing the smart thing which would've been realizing I was drunk, I decided Party C and Blondie needed some company so I joined them at the bar in the 'hood. Uh. Right. All of us were schnockered.

Thurs was not pleasant for anyone.

Thurs night Blondie went and got a nice shiny new haircut (he looks HOT), and then called yours truly to meet up at "the place between the pharmacy and Zazie's" (i.e. the bar in the 'hood). Then we went to grab some dinner where we ran into the Porn King and his friend Kari with a K. Porn King suggested giving Party C a call, so we did and she came and joined us. It was just a few drinks, but enough to give yours truly a spurt of drinking power. It was an early night b/c Blondie is on his way to Vegas EARLY today.

I don't know about Blondie and his friends, but Slick better watch out... I'm ready and raring to go after the last few days. Ready and raring...

Go Colts! Or rather, just Don't Go Bears.

Bye Bye Barbaro...

As a KY native (not completely true but seeing as how I don't remember Ohio as a child, I consider it true), and as someone who loves her animals (no, I don't ride horses, but I still think they are beautiful), it broke my heart to see Barbaro was humanely euthanized today (yesterday now). What a trooper. Here's hoping horse heaven is full of good things to eat (carrots, oats, whatever else you want) and hot female horses (mares?) who only have eyes for you.

A fresh start... Or, how I get my life back...

Ahhh, nights - I own you again! Early morning hours - I own you again! Life - you are my own again! Raging headache and cotton mouth - apparently I am owning you right now.

So, yesterday, my company announced the closure of the SF office for the technical teams that are out here. I'm one of those. They've given me a 2 month notice, and I will receive severance after the 2 months are up. In addition, (and this is *so* sweet of them - make sure you read that in a sarcastic manner), they've offered to pay to relocate me back to TX. Hmmm, let me think - okay, NO.

The point is, I've got my life back. I've been skating through this job for a long time, hating it and hating life while I worked it, and this is a really good thing for me. I'm going to start over out here. I'm going to find something I don't hate (if I find something I like, even better, but for now we'll go with something I don't hate). I'm going to get paid like I should be paid for what I do.

Big big thanks to A for getting me out of the house yesterday - you are a rock star!
Big big thanks to B for having the "medical thing" and joining us at Zeitgeist - you are a rock star!
Big big thanks to sweetie J and party C keeping the party going into the night - you guys are both rock stars!
BIG BIG thanks to blondie - yes, I know it was your turn, but sometimes sh*t happens. Thanks for dragging my drunk ass around town last night, and getting me to put some food in my stomach and getting me home and into bed. You are MY rock star.

A sore foot...

I busted my foot last Wednesday on my Pacific Ocean run. Specifically, I pulled a muscle in the arch of my left foot. It hurt. I still was able to go to the gym on Thursday and Friday, but that's because I did non-impact aerobic activity. Saturday morning I woke up and was feeling better, and like the idiot I am, skipped Running 101 (because "it's not a workout right now") and instead did the Pacific Ocean run again. And reinjured it.

I stayed home today to stay off my foot. I decided to do laundry. Instead of waiting for our slow-ass elevator, I thought I could go down the steps with my piled high laundry basket and detergent (and my gimpy foot). Yep, I wiped out. It was glorious.

In better news, I will be off to the land of The Bears in about 1.5 weeks. Chicago baby, here I come. I bought tickets to visit Slick over Super Bowl Weekend, and of course, we now know that Chicago made it to the Super Bowl, so I'm SERIOUSLY looking forward to my weekend. Woo hoo! BEER.

The. Pacific. Ocean.

It's 4.35 miles from our house. I ran out there today on my lunch break. All of a sudden, you come out of the trees in Golden Gate Park, and to your right is a huge windmill, to your left are more trees, and directly in front of you, with nothing to disturb your view, is the Pacific Ocean. That image alone gave me the energy to turn around and make it back to the apartment.

Making myself cringe...

I did Yoga yesterday for the first time ever. It absolutely 100% hurt me. Every muscle in my body aches. From my neck muscles (traps according to blondie) to my stomach muscles (abs according to everyone), I feel it in every part of my body.

I'm cringing because I'm thinking back over the year and a half I've been thinking about trying Yoga and I'm remembering all the times I said (with a straight face): "But Yoga is just stretching. That's not really a workout".

See yesterday's post: I never said I was brilliant.

Movies, beer, and Popeyes... Oh My!

As I found out on Friday, we have a "brew and view" in SF. That, to the non-drinkers reading this, is a movie theater that sells beer. This particular one is a live music venue with FREE movies on Monday nights. They do have a 2-drink minimum (that absolutely nobody enforces), but other than that - free (this includes popcorn). Also, if you don't like popcorn, you can bring outside food in. They don't care.

So, last night, Party C, Crazy Larry, Sweetie J, Blondie and myself headed over (15 min walk) for Super Troopers and BeerFest double feature. We got drunkity drunk. Sweetie J went across the street to the Popeyes and brought back fried chicken for everyone. It was a blast.

Until this morning when the alarm went off at 5:45 am because I had some work to do. Now I'm wondering why it was such a good idea. Beer from 7 pm to midnight? Popeyes at 9 pm? All the night before I have to actually work in the morning?

I never said I was brilliant...

Interesting... Very interesting...

How was Kerri's weekend do you ask? Well, let me tell you.
1) I resisted a bagel on Friday. (YaY!)
2) I had a pedicure on Friday with my party friend C while chowing down on free gummy bears that the pedi-place so kindly left beside my chair (YaY!)
3) I had a glass of wine on Friday while watching a hysterically funny movie with C (YaY for movie - Boo for only one glass of wine)
4) Running 101 started Saturday. It was not as fun as I thought it would be. And apparently, the people that enrolled in Running 101 are targets of amusement for the 'real' runners. (YaY for the nice women that I met - Boo for the bitches (you know who you 2 are) that felt the need to make cracks about Running 101).
5) Farmer's Market + Nan + Chipolte Chutney + Pork tamale = yummy yummy goodness (YaY!)
6) Heard from an OLD friend that I haven't talked to in about 13 years. In addition, he told another OLD friend (15 years maybe) that he found me and that OLD friend asked for my email address so we could catch back up (I think this is a YaY! but it feels really really weird to be talking to people I knew when I was in 10th grade - Terri has been the only one to get that 'priviledge' thus far in my life).
7) Early night on Saturday and a bunch of beer (YaY!)
8) Dinner with my sweetie friend J on Sunday night followed by a bit of boozing in North Beach followed by Mario Kart while drunk in front of the TV (YaY!)
9) SD Chargers lost and Chicago Beers won (BOOOOOOOOOO!)

So that's 5 YaYs! - 1 big BOOO + 2 no changes (YaY-Boo) + 1 I'm not real sure. So I guess that evens out to 1 Yay!

Working on my resolve...

Tomorrow is Bagel Friday. Unlike last week, I haven't managed to forget this. Crud.

Random things...

1) I watched Clerks II the other week and now can NOT get "ABC" by Jackson 5 out of my head. Thank you Kevin Smith. "Reading and writing and arithmetic, are the branches of the learning tree". UGH! Make it stop!
2) The Cutest Kid In The World (TCKITW, aka my niece) makes a mean set of muscles.
3) If I had some cajun food in front of me right now, I would slowly smear it all over me. And I would eat it. Razzoos you silly fool. Why don't you exist in SF? (and a thank you to A for getting me on the cajun kick).
4) SF is on the water (REALLY?!?!? Who DIDN'T know that). But our apartment is still located ~475 ft above sea level. Talk about some hills!
5) I have 30 minutes left in my day and they are taking forever. Technically I know they take 60 seconds each, but today they feel like they are taking 5 hours each.
6) Hi blondie!

Monday, January 08, 2007

It was a pretty good weekend. We started it all out with a chill night on Friday catching up on DVRs from the week. Saturday morning we went to the farmers market with A&B and spent $12 on fresh from the farm vegetables that would have cost us about $50 at the store. We reluctantly hit the gym Saturday afternoon and spent the rest of the day watching football (oh darn Dallas lost ;-) and lounging in front of the TV. J came over and we all just watched movies, played Mario Cart and hung out while trying not to think about food and beer. The conversation always came back to food and beer though ;-) Sunday was the day of running hell. J and her boss A took us on a new running route. We ran Golden Gate park from the JFK start near Stanyon all the way to the ocean and back (6.8 mi). The route took us past the Young Museum, a rose garden, countless picnic areas, the buffalo pen, and finished by the Dutch windmill/tulip garden near the ocean. Getting to the ocean was pretty cool. It was a nice reward to get there and see the waves crashing on the beach half way through the run. On the way back all the energy that I had was gone by mile 5 and I was on fumes till the end though. That was the farthest I've run in about 3 months. I thought I was going to pass out and die on the mile walk back home after the run. If it wasn't for that banana and cup of coffee on the way back up the hill to home, I think I'd still be trying to make it up that hill. Once back home, I don't think I moved more than 10 feet for the rest of the day. And that was the weekend...

Blind-sided, and not in a good way...

My work (as I've mentioned before) has "Bagel Friday" which is exactly like what it sounds. They pay some bagel company to stock our kitchen with bagels, cream cheese, and muffins. As a result, my favorite day to come to work is Friday. And my favorite thing to eat is a plain bagel, with cream cheese on 1 side and peanut butter on the other. Oh god. Drool.

I actually managed to forget today that it is Bagel Friday. I ate my breakfast at home, and am feeling pretty full. I go strolling down to the kitchen this morning to get my usual liter of water and strong black coffee, and BAM. In my face. Bagels.

The hardest thing I've done in the past month or so, is walk out of the kitchen without a bagel. This was about 30 minutes ago. I've done nothing in the past 30 minutes but think about bagels. Now I'm writing about bagels. I hope lunch comes quick so I can go to the gym where there is NO CHANCE I will lose my willpower to eat a bagel (simply because there aren't bagels in the gym).

If there was lox in the kitchen, it would've been over.

Happy 2007 to everyone! I haven't gotten many posts up in the past, but I'll try to change that this year. 2006 ended with a few beerful nights drinking, a good movie (despite what K said, The Good Shepherd was a good movie) , some excellent food (I miss Burgermiester already) , an entertaining concert (Gnarles Barkley / The Flaming Lips), and kick-ass football (Packers whooped up on the Bears / Badgers just eeked out the Capital One Bowl). So now it's back to work, back to the diet, back to the gym, back to running and back to getting in shape. Ouch, I hurt.

--S
Oh my god, what did I do...

I went running. I did it badly. Very badly. Today was my first day back to the gym, and now all of me aches. Because I'm an idiot and jumped right back in and pretended I haven't gained weight back and that, hey, I'm a runner.

Why am I telling you this? I'm joining the SF Road Runner's club. I'm enrolling in Running 101 - for beginners obviously. I'm going to have someone actually watch me run, get me to a comfortable pace, help me maintain that pace, help me hydrate properly, help me stretch properly... It starts next Saturday.

So what does that have to do with my run today? Even though it's a BEGINNER'S class, obviously I couldn't show up actually a beginner! Oh my goodness - NO. I mean, a beginner going to a beginner's class? Ha. That would be like going to the gym because you need to lose weight - everyone knows you lose weight first, and then show up at the gym all healthy.

My body hurts.

And it all got wrecked...

Thank you food poisoning (or stomach flu or whatever the hell you were). I heart you for making the last 2 days of 2006 and the first 2 days of 2007 a living hell. Thank you for ruining my concert plans. Thank you for ruining my drinking skills. Thank you for wrecking my NYE. Sigh.

HAPPY 2007 EVERYONE!

The past week in review... well, to be honest, technically the past 9 days in review.

I can't stress enough how happy we are to have stuff again. It's made my life so much better being able to get out of BED (yay!) and stumble out to the COUCH (yay!) and watch TV (yay!) In addition to having stuff, we also have our own internet connection again (my upstairs neighbors, or whoever's internet I was 'borrowing', thank Comcast) and cable! Hooray for cable!

What has happened... Well, a whole of drinking and eating and partying, followed by periods of doing absolutely nothing.

Last Friday, me and S met my sweetie friend J out at the bar. We got our drink on and then proceeded to dinner where we ate honestly the best crab I've ever eaten along with the best soup I've ever eaten. oh god. I'm drooling thinking about it. From there, we went out dancing. Do you know how long it's been since I've been dancing? Yes, it's been a long long time. Long time. And it showed. Give it up for a white girl dancing - that sounds bad and believe me I dance worse than that sounds. HOWEVER, I've never seen anyone move like J does. I might have to alter my opinion that she's innocent, because she sure doesn't look like that on the dance floor.

Saturday, Sunday and Monday saw me and S holed up in our apartment in front of our TV. Here is a step by step guide to recreating our last weekend (for those who want to give it a try):
1) Put movie in DVD player and press start.
2) Pause movie about 20 minutes in to refresh alcoholic beverage.
3) Repeat step 2 for remainder of movie (sometimes including snacks).
4) Repeat steps 1-3 for 3 days.

We did take a break to open Xmas gifts from the KY-side of the family on Xmas eve. Thanks mom! We LOVED our gifts! I now have a fluffy new bathrobe so that I don't flash my neighbors anymore. And we took a break on Xmas day to do a web conf with WI-side of the family. Hi guys! It was good seeing you over the computer!

We finally got out of the house on Tues. We took the train to Union Square to look at the giant Xmas tree and the giant menorah. Then it was a trip down to Embarcadero to check out the ferry building (opening scene of So I Married an Axe Murderer - "Port of San Francisco"), with a BART ride back to Mission for much-needed mexican food fix. J called on Tues - she had too much family time over the weekend and needed booze and cigs.

Which leads us into Wed. After viewing an extremely boring movie with J, we started drinking - martinis at Metreon lead to the Sutter Gutter where we met Suz and her sis (the random girl I met with my partner in crime - see posting from about a month back) which led to a random Chinatown restaurant where J ordered in Mandarin (I sure as heck couldn't read the menu) and I ended up eating a chicken heart (TASTY!)

Plans for the rest of the week:
1) Hog Island tonight for beer and oysters (honestly, is anyone shocked that all my plans involve booze and food?)
2) Gnarls and The Flaming Lips on 12/30
3) Boozing in North Beach tomorrow night (if I get the energy)
4) Wisconsin bowl game and GB Packer game on 12/31.
5) Drinking non-stop on 12/31.
6) Puking non-stop on 1/1.
7) Back on my diet to lose all my weight again on 1/2. Boo.

Hope everyone had a very good Xmas and are going to have a very booze NYE!

A weekend to remember...

Friday night - a nice lame night at my party friend C's house. After our "date" with tequila the night before, we decided pizza and a chick flick were in order. My liver thanked me for only putting 2 beers in it. My body thanked me for going to bed sober and early.

Saturday - Met up with my party friend C early and we headed downtown to meet our sweetie friend J for another chick flick. "The Holiday" was a great movie, made even better by the fact that C and J both gasp at the same time during movies. I was rolling, in tears laughing. I discovered that both C and I call J "honey" all the time - I think it's b/c she's just so darn sweet, she's my innocent friend. It's been a long time since I've bonded with someone I think is innocent. Then C and J and I headed back to North Beach for some seafood dinner at J's house. J's friend CaryElwes (not really but I nicknamed him) whom I met the VERY FIRST TIME I met J came out - it was good seeing him again.

Saturday night - C and J: "When does S get in tonight?"
K: "He's leaving Phoenix at 8:26, so like 10 pm?"
C and J: "8:26 Phoenix time, or 8:26 our time?"
K: "Doesn't matter, they are the same time zones"
C and J: "No girl, Phoenix is an hour behind" (thanks for answering your phone to verify this fact Slick - much appreciated ;)
K: "Uh. Shit."

I was late getting S at the airport. I'm a rock star wife to say the least.

Saturday night continued - A certain airline lost all of S's luggage.

Sunday - a call from my party friend C. She had helped a friend out big time on Saturday night after I left and it backfired in her face (and on her mattress). I'm still laughing about it. Anyway, we went and picked up tics to hear a jam band in Feb, and then I went to her apt to help "fix" her mattress. Then it was a lovely day spent waiting on luggage to get to our apt! Thanks to A&B for keeping us company for many hours in our still-bare living space!!!!

Today - it's as clear as can be. I'm taking breaks from working at home to stare at the Pacific Ocean. Ah. Life is good right now.

A bit of a sad day...

We no longer own a house. My part of the closing happened yesterday, and as of about an hour ago, S's closing was over. It's a little sad. I love my new life in SF, but I did have a great run in DFW.

A bit of a happy day...

S gets here tomorrow! Yay! See you soon baby!

A bit of a hurting day...

Thanks to my party friend C, I rocked it out with my other good friend "Tequila" last night. Even my hair hurts today.

The Night Before Closing...

It's the night before closing
in this big barren house,
all by myself
I'm missing my spouse.
The house is so empty
it's almost time to go.
The movers took our stuff,
the truck is in tow.
Ten years spent in Texas
the time flew by so fast.
It's hard to think it's over,
this chapter closed and passed.
The path that I have taken
and have been on through the years
has brought me very good friends
with whom shared many beers!
The good friends I made
and meeting my beautiful wife
were all done right here
enriching my life.
Off to California
that's the place where I will go
to start a new chapter
starting in San Francisco.
New friends will be made
and new memories found,
but I'll never forget the good times
spent on this ground.
Goodbye y'all in Texas,
you'll surely be missed.
It's time for a change
so we're heading out West.

Vegas baby... Vegas... Again...

With much reluctance (it was pouring down rain, I hadn't had a shower, my dress clothes are all in Dallas), I agreed to go to the SF office party last Friday night. This was only after my buddy Maoser needled me for 5 hours at work on Friday, calling me every name in the book b/c I wasn't going to go. I bailed out of work early, had to go buy a new pair of dress pants, had to run home, get a shower, blow dry my hair, put on makeup, go back out in the rain, catch the train, walk 3 blocks in the rain from the train station, etc. Ugh. However, for some reason, I got into the party mode and had a great time. Alcohol was free, food was free, got to see an old friend I haven't seen in a long time (he quit but is married to someone who still works there). Then came the door prizes. Here is the thing about working in an office of 60 people - it's much easier to win door prizes than say when you work in an office with 500 people (SF vs DFW). And yes, yes I did win. 3 night stay in Vegas, airfare and hotel on the strip included plus 2 show tickets. NICE!

but the best part of the night had to be the fried egg sandwich after the party ended- chow, i heart you. you make a killer egg sandwich.

Suffering a horrible hangover on a Saturday morning is something I'm used to. But what I'm not used to anymore is not being able to hop in my car and grab McDonald's to cure the hangover. I have no car. And there is no McDonald's. So while Friday night rocked, Saturday morning sucked.

I decided to just take it easy on Saturday and then my sweetie friend J and my party friend C called - they wanted an easy night also so they stopped by with wine. 5 hours later... 3 bottles of wine later... a bottle of champagne later... 2 bottles of Bud later...

And Sunday morning sucked too.

THINGS I LEARNED THIS PAST WEEKEND:
1) It's possible to party yourself out (I'm totally shocked too)
2) I will NEVER be one of those people who don't have a TV and are happy with it. I MISS MY TV.
3) Stove top and Diet pepsi work almost as well as Egg McMuffin and real coke from McDonald's in curing my hangovers.

Cheers from the west coast...

My love affair with MUNI has ended...

For those of you who don't take public transportation, just so you are aware, during rush hour times, the trains can get insanely packed. You look like sardines crammed into a metal tube. And people still manage to keep forcing their way on. I don't like to ride the trains when they are like that. And will wait until after evening rush hour ends to go home for the day, or will wait for multiple trains to go by before hopping one in the morning. Obviously I don't care about when I actually arrive at the office - I'm here until 6:15 pm every night anyway.

So yesterday, I was coming down the hill from our apartment to Cole Valley. I could see a train at my stop and about 3 billion people cramming onto it. I could also see over the hill behind the train stop (b/c of my position) and could see another train waiting. SCORE! That means that everyone will get on the train currently at the stop, and I'll have a nice free train to ride to work. So I'm all giddy, go skipping down the street, thinking "Yay! What a great way to start the week!".

I hop on the 'empty' train and pay my fare, take my transfer. The entire time I'm doing this I'm aware that the train is WAYYYYY noisier than normal, but it doesn't really register. I turn around, transfer in 1 hand, purse in the other, and am confronted by, no joke, about 35-40 screaming 1st graders and their teachers on a field trip. I kept thinking surely they were getting off the train soon, but nope, I rode with them all the way to my work stop (about 4 miles, 7 stops). And they screamed the entire time.

I was hating life yesterday b/c of this until yesterday evening. For those of you who don't regularly follow the news, a San Francisco family had gone missing somewhere in Oregon on their way back from Thanksgiving. They found the mom and her 2 kids at their car last night (stranded 9 days) - the dad had gone off looking for help 3 days ago and is still missing. Their dad literally works about 1/2 block from where I do on 2nd St. It hit home last night when I was walking back to my MUNI stop (silently cursing screaming 1st graders and hoping hoping hoping I had an empty train home), and I passed the office where he works and it was surrounded by news vans and reporters who were attending a news conference regarding the situation. It made me glad I'm in San Francisco to ride a train (even with kids) and here's wishing and hoping they find the dad soon.

In happier news, S lands for good in a little less than 2 weeks! This is good as Tigga is going nuts without a male presence in the house (and no Max doesn't count - he's too scared).

Wednesday, November 29, 2006

Well, K has done a great job keeping everybody up-to-date on the San Francisco happenings. Here in Texas I'm just finishing up the packing/address change/misc stuff that all needs to get done before closing on the 15th and heading out there on the 16h. Thanksgiving week was a blast for me! It was great spending some time out there with K. The Thanksgiving meal was fantasticly done by A&B! Thanks again for all the help during the past turbulent 2 months! Of course it was great meeting all of K's new friends that she has gathered over the past month-and-a-half that she's been there. It makes the new city feel more like home when you have some friends to hang out and drink beer with :-)

I finally got some much promised pics of the views from our windows. This will be my new office ;-) The 3rd pic is a close up of the Golden Gate bridge.

And on Thanksgiving Day here is our hostess with the mostest! And of course what would Thanksgiving be without Boggle and Taboo!

And hold your horses everyone...

My partner-in-crime lands tomorrow night for 5 days of drinking in his old city. Many stories will follow this weekend. Many friends will be made. Many a liver will be further ruined. Ahhh, partner-in-crime, only 27.5 hours to go!

Monday, November 27, 2006

Officially needing another vacation day (and a new liver).

Me and S rang in Thanksgiving with some FABULOUS food at A&B's house. Yours truly was drunk when we got to their house, and didn't let up all afternoon. Yours truly also ate her weight (it's hard to do) in food, and didn't stop until the button on my jeans about blew off. After a truly great tday, S and I trucked back up the 17th street hill (seriously, I should've lost all the weight I gained after that hike) to our apartment building, where we raced each other up the steps to our apartment. I won. Even after tripping between 1st and 2nd floors and going face down on the steps. Man, S is sure slow.

Friday saw me and S all over the city - we first braved the mall *gasp* to get S a new cell phone and then we went and saw Borat. Truly hysterical and truly cringe-worthy. I might have a crush on Sasha Baron Cohen. But a crush like the silly guy in class who always made you laugh but that was about it. Then it was back to Cole Valley to drop off said cell phone and then over into Sunset for pizza and beer. Yum. Pizza. Yum. Beer. After truly stuffing ourselves, we cut through GG Park to Richmond to catsit for a friend S2. And then it was a truck back to Cole Valley for boozing into the night.

Saturday saw S hop his flight back to DFW. I then made it a goal to move out of bed only to pee and eat. I not only met my goal, but blew right past it. Seriously, I don't think I moved but 5 times on Saturday. Glorious.

And yesterday my dear sweet friend J and I went out. It was intended to be a low-key day, but ended up being a day that started with martinis and ended up with burgers and PBR in a can. The movie, which J slept through, rocked. The martinis rocked. The beer rocked. And the burgers ROCKED. The only thing that would've made it more fabulous is if Berkeley realized that school SHOULD end the week of Thanksgiving so that Ms A could've joined us on our little trip through alcohol-land.

Ouch.

HAPPY TURKEY DAY (a day early)

Me and S are off to A&B's home for Thanksgiving dinner this year. We had talked of running a 3 mile race prior to eating, but I think the lazy gene in my body is the dominant gene this year, soooo.... we're just going to eat.

Wishing my family in KY and my family-in-law in WI a great holidy (we miss you guys!!!) . Give my niece a big giant smacker on the cheeks for me!

And to our friends scattered all over the place, we miss you all too (have a great day and drink a beer for your friend in SF).

News, separated into sections, b/c that's how I like to think. In sections.

1) Vegas baby, Vegas!
We hit the city of sin on 11/10 EARLY. As in, I had to get up at 4:00 am early to get to the airport on time. And S, who had a 3.5 hour flight to get there (vs my 1 hour flight), still made it in before me - so everyone knows how early he got up. Vegas was a BLAST. Everyone started arriving around 4 pm and the boozing started. Slick's flight got delayed out of Chicago and he didn't get in until 3 am on Sat morning - he did lay down a challenge when he called to tell me about the delay.
Slick: Nobody will still be up when I get there.
K: I'll be up.
Slick: boo hoo. Nobody loves Slick.
(For the record, I still love Slick).
Not only did we stay up until he got in, several of us went to bed when the sun was already fully up for the day (me included).

After sleeping until 3 pm, with short breaks to, ahem, relieve myself of excess alcohol (i.e. puke), I hit it hard again. Me and S, A&B, Paulie and Angie, and Matt (dirty sanchez) and Natalie hit downtown. We decided Barbary Coast needed our money more than we did, so we gave it to them in the form of BlackJack. Then we decided our stomachs needed margaritas - so it was a very very boozy ride back to the strip. Where we stayed up until 4 am. With a 3:30 am Wendy's run. Ugh. I gained 50 lbs on that trip.

2) The pressure is off
THE HOUSE SOLD. We found out on Thurs.

3) I'm no longer homeless.
I picked up my apartment keys on Friday.

4) I'm no longer catless
My buddies (hi Max and Tigga!) flew on their first plane ride Saturday night with their dad to join me in SF. They were a bit tense (to say the least) and have spent the last few days craning their necks to check their new home out. Max has also (appropriately) slept in the closet the last few nights. But they are here, and they are safe.

5) Random coincidences from this past weekend.
a) My partner-in-crime and I met a a girl (S1) and her friend about 2 weeks after I got into town. She's introduced me to several of her friends, and we've hung out many times. One of those friends called on Fri night and I went and met her and her friend (H) for drinks. H called this girl she used to work with (M) and M brought her b/f D. After about 20 mins of chatting, we figured out that D used to work at the NYC branch of my company! As soon as he asked where I worked and I told him, and then he said I used to work there, it hit me that I knew who he was and used to hang out with him when he would go to the DFW office. We (all of us) had a BLAST that night.
b) I met another of S1's friends on Thurs night - we'll call her S2. S2 has cats and I'm going to catsit for her over Thanksgiving. S2 called last night to tell me that she told her sister about me (just moved from DFW, works at company blah), completely randomly, my partner-in-crime and I (on yet another drinking trip) had met her sister about 3 weeks ago at a bar downtown.

HOW RANDOM CAN IT GET???

Now that we have an apartment - come visit people!!!

Go Cowboys! What a spectacularly hysterical loss yesterday to Washington! It MADE MY WEEKEND.

Hi everyone. I'm still in DFW. I'm like a virus - I can't quite be shaken. Ha ha. No, I decided to stay through Thurs - I have my release going out this week and thought I'd give the fabulous A&B some time off from yours truly and the early morning/all night phone calls that will be happening this week for my release.

The weekend was drunken fun. I made up for my lame drinking skills on my birthday night and celebrated the 32nd in style all weekend long. My partner-in-crime and a few of us went out all day on Sunday, and it truly became a great day after the Cowboys screwed up so royally.

This is a lame post today b/c just not much has been happening. I'll have some great stories after this coming weekend (Vegas baby, Vegas), but until then, you are stuck reading my boring stories.

Agh. What a week! I'm blogging today from DFW. I came back on Wed night to visit the hubby and kitties, and celebrate my birthday. Yours truly is now officially mid-30's. I had some Hooter's and beer to ring in the new year, but had to play low-key since I had an early early early early morning today for work. Tonight, there will be raging.

Since I last caught up with you all - a lot has happened.

My partner-in-crime officially left SF. It was a sad day when that happened. Ironically, he is living in DFW for a few months. I now have to find a new person that can keep up with me when I get on a roll (that's not easy to do, but those of you who can, I HEART YOU; WC, Slick - I'm talking about you).

I celebrated my first official Halloween in SF. It was a great and fabulous (and boozy) night but ended with 10 people being shot about a block from where we were. We didn't see or hear anything, but it was a damper on an otherwise spectacular evening.

Arrrrr matey - is that a pirate monkey chomping on Montag's head? Why yes, yes it is. And oh my, I think I spotted a Jackson Ho'. And there is me, being a fairy godmother on acid coming to grant your every wish - or at least the wishes I thought were worthy.
