New York City?!??!!?
So fabulous. Utterly and completely fabulous.
I've been to NYC 1 time for about 8 hours 12 years ago. Got that? ;) I loved it, the tiny tiny bit I saw of it, but was worried that it would be different this time.
It's not. We are officially in love with this city. We flew in on Sunday night and went to our hotel to drop our crap off. Headed straight back out and watched the dancing/singing snowflakes at Saks, before checking out the Xmas tree at Rockefeller. We went by Radio City Music Hall and the entrance to the NBC studios before heading to an Irish pub for dinner. It was an early night on Sunday as we were both exhausted from all day travel.
Yesterday I had to work all day, but Blondie met me for lunch before he started touring the city. I met him after work, and we headed down to Times Square for the evening. Times Square is insane - it's like Vegas without casinos. So bright and loud and things to see everywhere you look. We did dinner in Times Square and then started walking towards Empire State Bldg - we ended up turning off before we got there, but it was perfect as our turn off street took us straight to Bryant Park!!!!
I heart me some Project Runway and for those who don't know, the season finale of Project Runway ALWAYS ends in Bryant Park - so this was a big deal for me. We watched the ice skaters for awhile and just hung out and enjoyed the view - giant Xmas tree, ice skaters, little temporary Xmas shops, the top of the Empire State Bldg.
Today I'm working again, but tomorrow and Thurs I'm off and we intend to tour. We are going to hit Central Park, do "Top of the Rock", make our way through Upper West Side, etc. We hope to try and hit Little Italy area tomorrow at some point too.
Having a blast!!!!

A trip...
Blondie and I are off to NYC tomorrow morning for 5 days. I am SO EXCITED about this - I can't wait to see the city, hear what Blondie thinks, and also check out where I would be working if we do make this move. Our hotel is a really cute one, super close to Rockefeller Center, so we will definitely be checking out the Xmas tree also.
I got my hippy dippy hair cut off for this trip - it's back to shoulder length now instead of 3/4 the way down my back. I'm also going to get my eyebrows waxed today.
Not much else has been going on - I've been offered a promotion to a mgmt position at my company, it's obviously contingent on if I don't take the job in NYC. And work holiday parties were this past week - my work threw one Tuesday in the basement of our bldg, and then on Wed it was off with some friends for a few drinks, and then on Thurs, my boss threw one at his house.
MUNI went down on Wed also in the city - the underground trains were shut down completely in both directions. You know how bad it sucks to have to take a crammed full bus down Market St and the ride that normally takes 11 mins total, takes 40 mins? Yeah. Boo hoo.
Blondie has been making improvements almost daily to his site - it's zooming along and he has more fans than ever for it!!!! GO BLONDIE!!!!
Keeping sis in my thoughts - hope your "break the nose" surgery goes well on Thurs!

Happy T-Day!!!!
Blondie, Bbbb, Shelbs and I started the day out early today and went turkey trotting! Blondie did awesome and ran it in exactly 30 mins, and I came in at 40:24. I'm okay with the time, mainly b/c it's about 2 mins less than I was expecting.
I'm about to go make a green bean casserole (and a vodka drink) before we head over to Shelbs and Bbbb for the afternoon.
Hope everyone is having a great day!
Finally, a 4 day late happy birthday to the Sheriff and a 1 day late happy birthday to TT and Beckers! Don't freak out everyone - I called everyone on their actual birthday, just forgot to put it on the blog.

It's early... I'm grumpy...
T-week plans to take all week off and staycation in my city and do some touristy things have been cancelled in lieu of... wait for it... WORK.
WOOT.
The capper on my poop pie is that I had to also work overnight tonight.
WOOT WOOT (double WOOT).
I hope my coworkers avoid me tomorrow. :)
--K
P.S. As not happy as I was about tonight, I'm still okay now, b/c I'm about 10 seconds from taking the cat that's sleeping against my leg right now and heading back into the bedroom to curl up against Blondie. That makes it all okay.

A little bit of filming... a little bit like my mom...
Our lovely street has been once more blocked off for the filming of a TV show that's probably going to be cancelled after this season. This show is a wonderfully horrible series called "Trauma". When I watched the first episode, I got SO furious with the character that drove his car like a maniac while reciting lines from Bullitt. 1) You aren't Steve McQueen. 2) OMG. STOP DRIVING LIKE A F'ING IDIOT!
Yes, I'm my mom. I'm going to drive 7 miles an hour under the speed limit and then tell everyone that limit doesn't mean minimum. (Oh wait, I already do that).
Anyhoo, the car that he drove like a maniac is parked about 5 houses down from us right now, and all the extras are out in full-force. There are ambulances and firetrucks everywhere.
I will definitely miss this. It's annoying, but it's also pretty f'ing cool to watch.

Chilling like a villian...
Watching some football and eating some pizza bread today. GO PACKERS.
We have finalized our Xmas plans - this will involve a stop in Texas, along with a drive to KY in a U-Haul. That's right folks - we are finally getting rid of our storage shed in DFW, and moving all of our crap back into my parental unit's house. They are going to drive down and meet us in Memphis on the drive back, otherwise, Blondie and I would kill each other. We don't drive well together. Apparently, he drives like he's in Nascar and I drive like I'm a senile 90 year old. :) It's true on both parts.
Hung out with the fabulous Shelbs and Bbbb yesterday. It was really good seeing them and getting to catch up on everything. They both are enjoying their new SOMA jobs, and I'm happy to have them around again!
My PM quit from work - it was a sad day. She's the only one who brought any kind of order to the project I'm working on, so we will definitely miss her. But, we did have a blast celebrating her last day. I don't think Thirsty Bear will let us anywhere near the bar again.
Thanksgiving plans include taking the week off from work and stay-cationing in SF - we are going to hit up the California Acacdemy of Sciences, and the Yoda statue in the Presidio, and I'd love to take a Blue/Gold cruise through the bay. We will be at Shelbs and Bbbb for Thanksgiving dinner, along with all 4 of us running a Turkey Trot in GGP in the morning.
Things I'm thankful for this year:
1) The launch of Blondie's website. SO PROUD OF HIM!!!!
2) Great friends whom we get to spend T-Day with!!!!
3) A job in this crappy economy.
4) The fact that our respective siblings have spawned the greatest kids ever!!! We love all of our nieces (4 of them, soon to be 5)
5) Family that supports us no matter what we do!

The dreaded day...
First off, last Thurs, Blondie and I met my friend KT for burgers at the new restaurant Burger Bar. I loved it! They had an awesome beer selection, and an even more awesome shake selection, and the burgers were sooooo good. I even got a fried egg on my burger! And Blondie had a twinkie shake, complete with a twinkie stuck in the top.
Then, last Friday, it was off to the Warfield to see Kevin Smith do a stand-up show. Blondie bought the tickets for my birthday b/c I'm a KS freak. One of my fav movies of all times is Clerks ("no time for love, Dr Jones") and KS is seriously one of the funniest people I've heard talk. THANKS BLONDIE!
Saturday we headed down to the hood to get some yummy Say Cheese goodness, and Sunday was designated "Lazy Ass Day" and all we did was watch football (and I drank, and passed out also).
Monday was not a good day - yes, I know, I'm being dramatic. I'm fully aware I'm being dramatic. But that day still felt like shit. Luckily it was KT, Blondie, Bbbb and Shelbs, and about 10 drinks to the rescue! This is all I'm going to post about the actual b-day itself b/c I don't really want to remember it.
Okay... moving on.... Blondie met me last night for some sushi, and after this week (it's been some crazy time at work), it was so needed. Hot sake, eternity roll, and then bed. So refreshing. The rest of the week is going to be spent trying to get this project to launch. Ugh.

Exciting as a moist sponge....
Which I guess means I'm growing mold and bacteria.
Sooooo, 2 weekends ago, Blondie and I went out and met Shelbs and Bbbb and 2 friends of theirs from TX that had stopped in for a visit. We ended up at Kezar Pub for the day to watch football. Now, I went down before Blondie and I was there at 9:15 am. The bar was insanely hopping - there was even a group of guys playing quarters (AT 9:15 AM!!!). Blondie joined a few hours later and we ended up watching football into early afternoon. Afterwards, we trucked on down Haight Street to a pretty fancy bar Alembic to get our gin on. By that time, which was about 4 pm, I was ravenous, so Blondie and I bailed and went to this restaurant we've been wanting to try.
IT WAS SO GOOD! It was southern cooking and I had smothered chicken, mac & cheese, and mashed potatos. Blondie had CFS, mashed potatoes, and french fries. OMG. SOOOO GOOD.
After el-boozo-festo on that Saturday (and the entire preceding week b/c a friend of mine left the company), I was looking forward to last week as a non-drinking week. However, I completely forgot that Party C blew back through town for a few days! She had been in Europe tooling around for a couple of months, stopped back in SF for 4 days, and is now in South America until the end of the year.
It was a good week last week - from meeting the girls for margs on Wed, to the flash party that Blondie initiated in our house on Thurs, to meeting up with Bbbb on Friday, to the party that Blondie and I had by ourselves on Saturday... all good.
This week is pretty exciting - I hate Halloween (I love the candy, I hate dressing up), so I generally am looking for any excuse to get out of parties on that weekend. Today, on the bus on the way to work, I saw that Kevin Smith is going to be in town on Friday - doing a Q&A/comedy session. Blondie ended up buying us some tickets and I'm really looking forward to it!
Also, a new restaurant opened up downtown that I've been wanting to try - for those who watch Top Chef, it's Hubert Keller's new burger restaurant. Blondie and I and KT are off for lunch on Thurs to try some beefy goodness (heheh, I said beefy goodness).
Saturday will be spent avoiding more parties, but then Sunday - it's the Green Bay vs Minnesota revenge game! I plan on watching that, and then making Blondie take me for mexican food. And then crying myself to sleep on Sunday night b/c when I wake up a week from today, I'll be halfway to 70.
I'm tired today.

Happy Legal Anniversary!
6 yrs, officially, for Blondie and me.
Happy SF-versary!
3 yrs, officially, for Blondie and me.
Happy Blue Angels!
They had a very short show today due to crap weather here. BUT, it was gorgeous on Thurs, and a friend and I took a walk down to the water in the afternoon and got to watch them practicing. I love working a quick 10 min walk from the bay.
Happy Shabu Shabu!
Sweetie J, Dirty Sanchez, Blondie and I, and 2 of Sweetie J's other friends, hit up a Shabu Shabu place last night for dinner. IT ROCKED. It was $35 all-you-can-eat-and-drink and we had a blast. It was sooooo good getting to catch up with Sweetie J.
Plans for this weekend include trying to go out to eat tonight, but both Blondie and I are pretty tired, so not sure that's going to happen.
Also, on top of everything, my office cohorts and I are going to run a P90X contest between the 4 of us. So that starts on Monday. I'm looking forward to it.
Blondie's site continues to grow on a daily basis - he has fans and reviews, and people really like his idea. I'm so happy for him, and proud of him! There aren't many people who can say they are single-handedly responsible for a website!

Walked for my heart... Drank for my liver...
The HeartWalk I was chair for happened last Friday. It was a good success! We had a lot of people from my company come out and walk, and Blondie ended up joining me too. The weather was INSANELY nice - one of the hottest days we've had this year, and the free lunch was pretty nice too. ;)
After the HeartWalk, Blondie trucked on over to the bar while I went back to work. The bar Blondie hit happens to be one of my favorite in SF (and my most favorite in downtown), and by the time I made it back to the bar after work, Blondie had decided it's his favorite bar too.
We chilled at the bar for awhile, enjoying the free happy hour food of meatballs, ritz, and cheddar cheese, before finally heading on over a few streets to meet Shelbs and Bbbbb to celebrate! That's right folks - Bbbb is headed back to downtown SF instead of the boondocks where he currently works now. We are very excited for him.
And we were also very excited for the insane German Beer Hall we ended up in after our happy hour. OMG. Seriously. So much meat. And beer. A girl could fall in love with the insane German Beer Hall. Anyone who comes to visit - we are making a trek here for dinner at some point.
The rest of the weekend was kind of a blur. I'm still battling the sick, and so I did spend a lot of time resting.
This week is insanely busy - trying to get a project finished up for launch next week. Keeping my fingers crossed this actually happens.
Big plans for this weekend though - Blondie is off to Santa Barbara for a bachelor party, and I have a hot date with a pan of lasagna and my crappy DVR'd TV shows (ANTM, 90210) and my non-crappy DVR'd TV shows (Top Chef, Project Runway, Glee). Looking forward to a weekend of literally not leaving my couch!!!

Hola chicas y chicos!
I'm back to working 40 hour weeks now and it blows chunks. Last week was my first full week back and I thought the day would never end. I even called Blondie on Friday at 2 pm and whined that I should be off work then. Go me!
For the big news - we had our first thunderstorms that we've seen since Texas!!!! We went to bed on Friday night and I woke up overnight (because that's the way I roll) and heard really loud thundering. Then the whole bedroom lit up from the lightning. Blondie slept through it, but it was still going on Saturday so he got to hear it then.
It TOTALLY freaked the cats out.
Because of the weather on Saturday, we both just stayed in. We ended up watching college football most of the day and relaxing.
Then on Sunday, I went and took my chi running class. I'm not sure what I think of it to be honest. I feel like it was a lot of $ for a lot of talking. Some of things helped, but it wasn't what I was expecting.
After class ended, my running buddy dropped me off at my fav bar in the city to meet up with the sisters C and HK and Blondie to spend the rest of the afternoon watching pro football!
Work this week has completely knocked me out. I'm getting sick again, and everything feels off. My Heart Walk is tomorrow though, and Blondie is going to come meet me for that. Hopefully they'll let us off early from work but not counting on it.
Cheers to the weekend!

HEY! LOOK AT ME!!!
Kentucky was a BLAST. I had so much fun visiting the fam it wasn't even funny. Everytime I go back east, I wonder why I like living west so much. Seriously. It's bad.
Blondie and I had smoking good flights both on the way out and back - which I don't think has ever happened.
We got in last Wed afternoon, and ended up playing games and drinking beers into the evening.
Thurs the bus came really early - early enough that I needed a "Hair of the Dog". But taking the bus up to King's Island was the best way to travel. We all got to sit around and talk, and not worry about how was driving. The park was also EMPTY that day. We got to walk onto every single ride all day long. It was INSANE.
Brother R, Mr Pooh and Cray Cray Uncle rode a giant bungee swing in the park, followed by me and Shugs, and it was the best part of the day I think - it only cost $5 each, and it was quite the ride.
I got to meet up with my BFF TT on Friday and hang with her and her man. We ended up bowling and playing Euchre into the early hours of the morning. I think her man was about to punch me to get me to shut up, but I was just so excited to see TT that I didn't care.
Saturday we went for sitdown Mexican (WOOT!) and then ended up playing games in the afternoon before going bowling and playing Rockband at the Poohs.
Also, a huge thanks to sis who got me sicker than a dog, and then I in turn infected Blondie. :) I had to call in sick on Monday (only the 2nd time in 3 years that's happened) and I still feel off today.
Also also, the nieces are SOOOOO CUTE I can't hardly stand it! TCKITW will actually talk to me now, and she has the cutest stick legs/giant feet combination possible. TCKITW v4.0 gets baby wrinkles as she "ponders" things and then makes her little "ewwww" face. I heart them both, and I am going to steal them back to SF with me *until they hit adolesence*. Then the Poohs can have them back.

Chi Running... Looking forward to KY...
I think everyone knows by now that Blondie, his bro MG, and I are all going to run Green Bay Marathon in May 2010. Ahem, anyone else that might like to join us, feel free! I've started doing some initial training for this run - mostly getting my body used to going 3-6 miles comfortably for now. It's going okay - thanks to my old bootcamp instructor, I know how to muscle through a run I don't want to do.
However, I still hate it. So while I complete the runs, every step I take I think "I HATE THIS. I hate being fat. I hate it all. Why can't I be skinny? I'd never do a fucking lick of exercise if I had the metabolishm to stay skinny without work." - and then repeat that for every step.
This isn't going to work for the marathon. If I still think this, I'll drop out 10 miles into this race. So I signed up with my old running group for Chi Running. This is a private training class where they basically teach you how to get out of your head and into your body. You get in touch with your body's rhythms and moods, and work with them, not against them. To paraphrase: "We help make running effortless". I'm really looking forward to it, and hope hope hope it helps!
I'm so excited for the KY trip next week - and want to put an official thank you to the Sheriff for buying our tickets for us. I can't wait to see everyone, go to the park, bowl, play Rock Band, play cards, etc. I feel like I'm on vacation already, which is scary b/c I still have 2 days, 1 hour and 13 minutes to go.
I'm actually taking a real summer Friday this week, and instead of going to the gym and grocery shopping (we don't need to shop b/c we won't be here next week!) I'm meeting Blondie for burgers and beer around 2 pm! Can not wait! It's sunny and gorgeous outside, so we are going to sit on a patio and people watch while we eat and drink.

Sunday Streets and a painless dentist....
Last Sunday was Sunday Streets in SF. It basically means the city shuts down a bunch of streets to car traffic and opens them up to anyone. Since I don't have a car, I love this. Now, normally on Sundays, the first 1.5 miles of JFK Drive through GGP is shut down anyway, but this past Sunday, the entire 3+ miles of JFK Drive was shut down straight to the ocean - and then the highway that runs by the ocean was shut down also.
Blondie and I went for a run, and it was so great to have all that space to spread out on. Instead of being on a tiny running trail and dodging people from every direction, we had this massive 2-4 lane (depending on where you are in the park) road to sprawl. It was so fabulous.
In addition, the park is a great place to see all kinds of interesting people. I saw 1) electric bicycles; 2) A giant bicycle that 8 people pedaled while sitting in a circle; 3) swing dancing; 4) salsa dancing; 5) bison; 6) roller skate dancing. So much fun. And it was a beautiful day also.
This week I also went back to the dentist for the first time. I had cracked a crown in February and again in May, and I needed a cleaning. My dentist is only about 2 blocks from the house, and he ruled. He was so calm and patient, and he has a great voice (a radio voice). His assistants were funny, and not once did anyone say anything about how hard I was gripping the arm rests. He's creating me a new crown, so he had to drill the old one off on Wed - which involved numbing my face. It's hard for me to get numb - I've usually had to have about 5 shots of novocaine with 20 minutes in between the shots and starting work. This time, it was 1 time shot and almost instantly I was numb.
Also, he had bite blocks - which everyone knows if you try to hold your mouth open for a long time, your jaws ache (I'm ready for the dirty comments to start). But the bite blocks let you rest your jaws while still holding your mouth open.
And the music rocked. It's hard to be in pain when you are listening to Amy Winehouse argue against rehab.
This weekend I'm planning a pedicure and a run. And tonight I want to just lie in front of my TV.
Looking forward to KY in 1.5 weeks, and not working. Really looking forward to not working.

Trying to think...
I can't remember what's been going on. Which actually means I'm getting old. I last posted on 7/17, and uh, yeah.
Here is what I do remember since 7/17, and I know I'll leave some stuff off - but that's okay.
Blondie and I hit up a coworker's party last Friday - yay for summer Fridays! 2 pm found Blondie and me, and a bunch of coworkers partying it up on his patio. His patio ROCKS BTW. I also found myself apparently deciding to party with about 10 glasses of sangria and 10 beers. Which led into me partying with my toilet all day last Saturday.
After my party with the toilet ended at 4 pm last Saturday (all day hangovers also means I'm getting old), I swore off booze for 2 weeks. Not for a long time, just to let my liver recover.
Hmmm. What else?
I finally went to a dermatologist and got my skin checked out. I'm a moley person, but I have what is called "atypical moles" - thanks to my dermatologist for that phrase. It's because 99% of my moles are flat on my skin, and look like weird pigmentation and not moles. The other 1% she doesn't want to cut off b/c they are deep and they'd actually have to cut down into my fat to get them fully removed. She did freeze off one under my arm which is right where my jog bra hits and it gets irritated all the time. So I'm thankful for that.
In work news, my tech lead's contract is up, so it's back to hating my job. Everything that he does I now have to do (and it's all the crap that I hate) plus I still have to keep up with everything I've been doing (and that's all the crap that I like).
Blondie is doing well. His project is zooming along, and hopefully before long, he can beta launch this sucker.
The cats are also well - they do nothing but sleep most of the day, which makes me jealous. I want to do nothing but sleep most of the day.
Looking forward to our KY visit in a few weeks! Can't wait to see TCKITW and TCKITWv4.0, and the rest of my family.

Hola Readers...
Last weekend ended up being exactly what I needed. Blondie and Bbbb went out Friday night, which left me to lay on the couch watching bad TV all night long. It was so nice - it was exactly what I wanted to do, when I wanted to do it. The only bad thing was when Blondie came stumbling in Saturday morning, telling me he had pizza for a late night snack. Then I wanted pizza. :( Poor me.
Saturday we made it to a co-worker's apartment for his birthday bash. He has an awesome place in the city with a huge outdoor patio. We ended up drinking and BBQ'ing the day away, before heading out to the piano bar to ring in Sunday morning.
Sunday sucked - we both drug ourselves out for a run. Mine was atrocious and turned into a walk. Blondie did pretty good though.
Blondie has been pretty sick all week - I'm about to Google "Swine Flu Symptoms" to make sure what he has isn't swine flu. He's home trying to recover today, and we will both be in for the night.
We have no plans for Saturday as of yet - it depends on how Blondie is feeling, but Sunday we are going to meet up with a couple that we met a few weeks ago and really hit it off with. I've found that the older I get, the harder it is to just "pick up" new friends, especially ones you don't see on a day-to-day basis (i.e. work). So I'm pretty excited about our dinner date with this couple on Sunday. They are both pretty cool people, who know how to have a good time, and both have some pretty slamming body art - it makes me want to get another tattoo...
Hope you are feeling better sis. STAY OUT OF THE HOSPITAL FROM NOW ON!

Fireworks! Vodka! Fried Chicken! Spock!
Last weekend ended up being a total blast. My work let us out early last Thursday so Blondie made the trek to downtown and we went to see the new "Star Trek". It was a great movie - but it probably helped that I've never followed Star Trek to begin with so I didn't know any of the back history. I did love the movie though, and thought that the Spock character was amazing. GO SEE IT!
Last Friday, Blondie had to work, but I didn't (haha), so I took off with Bbbb and Shelbs over the Bay Bridge to Alameda to do the Hangar One Vodka Tasting. It was amazing!!! I paid $15 to get 13 tastes (2 apertifs, 5 vodkas, 1 whiskey, 2 tea drinks, 2 liquers, and 1 absinthe), and Bbbb and Shelbs paid $10 to get everything minus the absinthe. We had a total blast - from the weird tourists that were taking weird pictures, to the bridal party that showed up with their "penis book", it was a great afternoon. Afterwards we toured around Alameda for awhile, before hitting up Wienerschnitzel and then a local bar. So much fun! Why can't every weekend be a 3 day weekend???
Bbbb and Shelbs were nice enough to drop me off in NB on the way back so I could go to Sweetie J's for a "back to the basics" meal. Blondie and PC joined in as well as a few other folks. We had wine, beer, soju, and fried chicken! It's always so much fun hanging with Sweetie J and her cooking is the yummiest food I've eaten.
PC came back and spent the night at our place so that we would be ready to go bright and early on Saturday - The K's picked us up and we headed over GG Bridge to Marin for the Marin County Fair. Basically, I ate my way through the fair and crapped out early on a blanket people watching and drinking beer. We got to see some nice fireworks to end the night and then we sat in a line in the parking lot for an hour trying to get home.
This week has been pretty fast also - work let us out early again yesterday for an afternoon at the bar - they bought us drinks and food, and we got to shoot pool and play darts. It was a nice break from work.
This weekend, Blondie and I are headed to a coworker's tomorrow for a BBQ on his patio to celebrate his birthday. Other than that, the only thing I want to do is lay on my couch.
Congratulations to Mr Pooh who ran his first 10K in under an hour!!!! That is an amazing time, and Blondie and I are so happy for him!
Also, I'm chair for my department for the American Heart Assocation's Annual Heart Walk, so be prepared for emails in your inbox asking for a donation. It walks 9/18 and I'm going to start fundraising on 7/18 so it's coming up fast!

A BBQ, a sunny weekend, Pride and Gummi Love, and many drinks...
I have to keep stressing that my work has gone into summer hours until Labor Day - this involves 4 hours of work on Friday that count for 8 hours, and you don't have to make up the missing 4 hours earlier in the week.
Having said that, Friday at 1:45 pm found me at HH with my colleagues enjoying some cheap beverages. Blondie and Sweetie J joined up around 3 pm, and we headed out to get some margaritas before going to see "The Hangover". I about gave myself a heart attack watching that movie as it was HYSTERICAL. I think at the end all I could say was "My face hurts!!!" b/c I had been laughing so hard.
After the movie, it was back from drinks to end our evening. It was a blast hanging out with Sweetie J, and the movie/margs/beers just completed the day.
I bought a game for the Wii - EA Active. I have to say that on a scale of 1 to 10 of how much I recommend this (10 being the highest), my score would be 25. To me, it's way worse than bootcamp in terms of intensity, but also way better b/c it's only 25-33 minute workout sessions (I'm at the end of the 30-day workout program). Also, when I'm bitchy in the mornings, and I say "Fuuuuuck you" to my virtual trainer, he can't hear me and call me out on it! SO MUCH BETTER than bootcamp.
Anyway - Saturday, I worked out with EA Active for several hours - I did my 30 day program, and then went into another hour long program that is separate. When I was done, you could wring the sweat out of my t-shirt. All of this from working out in the apartment.
Afterwards, I headed down to get my toes done and my eyebrows waxed while Blondie went for a run. It was beautiful weather - non-typical SF weather to be honest. Sunny and warm - no clouds, no fog.
That evening we headed over to Shelbs and Bbbb for a cookout. I have a love of all things gummy (bears, swedish fish, juicy twists - you name it, gummy is my poison) and Shelbs had found this fabulous shirt in Austin - it's 1 gummy bear doing another gummy bear from behind. Also, this weekend was Pride. My full belief on Pride is this - whatever any consenting adults want to do with each other, should be completely fucking legal. I want to marry 3 men and 1 woman? Legal. I want to marry a gummy bear? Legal b/c the gummy bear isn't alive. I want to marry a 17-year-old? NOT LEGAL - wait until that kid turns 18.
Anyway, in honor of Pride, I wore my gummi love t-shirt - I was a little worried b/c I didn't want to freak any little kids out, but Blondie pointed out that this is SF, and that shirt is way less crude than what happens on a daily basis anywhere in the city. This statement was perfect b/c as we were on our train riding to the NV for our BBQ, we passed a woman walking to the Pride rally wearing 1) jeans, 2) sneakers, 3) paint to cover her nipples, 4) nothing else.
The BBQ was awesome! The burgers and potato salad were out of this world, and were supplemented nicely by the hurricane mix I brought back from my trip to NOLA.
Yesterday was another beautiful day - and I took advantage of it by going for a run. I'm going to run a full marathon in May 2010 and it's time to start training again. As much as I bitched about bootcamp above, one thing my trainer from bootcamp taught me was how to get through runs (it really was all in my head). So I busted out 2 miles (*without stopping*) in a fairly quick time for me, seeing as how I'm just starting to run again.
And the rest of the day was spent in front of the TV - which was a perfect end to the weekend.
This is a 3.5 day work week for me, so here's hoping it goes fast.
Happy upcoming 4th to everyone!

Happy happy birthday!!!
The Cutest Kid In The World turns 4 today!!!! I can't believe how fast time has gone. It feels like just yesterday, I flew into Cincinnatti butt early in the morning to catch a glimpse of the first kid that ever stole my heart. And then just 2 months later, I was so in love with her, that I drug Blondie back with me to Kentucky.
Have a great birthday sweetie! I'll see you in a few months.

50000 lbs of crawfish, in my belly!!!!
Because god knows I hadn't eaten my weight in crawfish when I was in NOLA, Blondie and I decided to hit up the 7th annual SF Crawfish Boil yesterday. We joined Mr and Mrs K, and several of our other friends to partake in $25 all-you-can-eat and drink!!!! They lost money on us.
It was a blast. First off, it was a GORGEOUS SF day. The sun was out, a slight breeze, it was warn enough for short sleeves. Second, the Crawfish Boil was on the bay - behind us was the GG Bridge, in front of us was a spectacular city view, to one side was Alcatraz/the bay/every sailboat that exists in SF, and to the other side was the hills of the Presidio.
We got to the boil around 11 am, after being escorted over by a fantastic woman that we happened to run into while we were pondering which way we needed to go from the parking lot. She overheard us talking, knew immediately where we were headed, and walked us over. She's lived in SF for a long time, and actually lives right by GG Park.
The day was just spectacular - the food was so good, the beer was free, and the friends are fantastic!
The only bad part is the INSANELY bad sunburn I'm sporting now (Blondie too!). I have a tomato head and arms, and Blondie is now officially a redneck.
Today was spent relaxing, watching Slumdog Millionaire, and reading.
Also, in other news, I broke down and bought EA Active for our Wii - it's a great game and reminds me so much of bootcamp! It gets my heart rate up and gets me moving! I've been hitting the gym again for the past month, and have started adding in the game the past week. I've got to get in shape for 2 major events coming up:
1) The wedding of Shelbs and Bbbb! Don't want to be the fat bridesmaid.
AND
2) GREENBAY MARATHON (full) - May 2010!!!!! Blondie, MG, and I will be running the entire thing, and drinking beer and eating brats after!

NOLA baby, NOLA...
What a freaking blast!!!! First, it was so good to get away for awhile. I miss taking vacations, and this certainly helped fill that void. And then of course, getting to hang with just my mom and sis was a great experience too - that rarely happens for good reason. Blondie and I make it back to KY maybe twice a year.
Anyhoo, flights out last week were rocking good, and got to the hotel without issue. My mom and I immediately set out for Pat O'Briens, the home of the HURRICANE! I was on an empty stomach, and slammed 2 of those suckers down in no time. Then, we headed to Bourbon Street. I got my aura and tarot cards read, and let me tell you, the aura reading freaked me out - it was seriously like this guy had followed me around for 34 years and then spilled everything he had seen about me. The hurricanes didn't help the paranoia either. :)
After the readings, mom and I kept walking Bourbon Street - and we saw a mini-parade come through! They tossed mom some beads, and we followed them for awhile.
I got to eat some oysters that night and gumbo for dinner, and then it was off to gamble the evening away.
The next day mom and I slept in late while sis headed to her conf. We ended up going to tour the aquarium in the afternoon, and then met up with sis for dinner on Bourbon Street followed by a HAUNTED NOLA TOUR! That was honestly my favorite part of the trip for the following reasons:
1) Sis got some AWESOME pictures of the haunted houses - she had so many floating things in her pics that it was freaky!
2) We headed down a street where they were filming a Josh Brolin movie - all the lights and cameras were out, and it was pretty cool.
3) We stopped at the oldest bar in America for drinksies - they make an alcoholic grape slushee that rocked my world.
4) The entire tour was just eerie - the 2nd to last stop is a house owned currently by Nicolas Cage and the story she told about the house was just beyond belief.
Saturday, sis got to end her stuff early so we all had some lunch, and then did a Mississippi River cruise followed by a tour of Mardi Gras World (where they store the floats for the parade). Afterwards, we headed to Cafe Du Monde for some out of this world beignets and then rode the streetcar down Canal Street. We ended up with some killer mexican food (it was my decision and I'm embarrassed that I made us eat mexican when there was so much good cajun food around!)
Sunday was hard, b/c we had to get up so early and it's always sad saying goodbye. Then my flight out of DFW was delayed for several hours due to maintenance and weather in the SF area. But it ended good b/c I did get to see Will Forte in the airport.
We've agreed that we are going to start a tradition of 3 or 4 day weekend trips for the women on a yearly basis also!!!
Please note: NOLA has no restrictions on public drinking. Everywhere we went, I had a drink in my hand.
Please also note: Blondie, we should move to NOLA b/c of this.

Celebrity F'ing Sighting!!!!!!!
Will Forte, of "Gillie!" fame (aka SNL cast member), waiting on his flight to NYC (I assume anyway) today at SFO!!!!!
I was going to go up and scream GILLIE! at him but I'm sporting a massive zit on my chin and a bug bite on my cheek. And I smelled. And my breath tasted like a thousand skunks sprayed in my mouth.
On the other hand, I tripped over my own feet staring at him, which caused him to look at me, so yeah, he totally noticed me. I rule.
More on my super fantastical Nawlins trip tomorrow! Had a TOTAL blast!

Reno... Bay to Breakers... Need another weekend...
RENO WAS A BLAST!!!! We had so much fun on our mini-trip. We were joined by Brother R and Shugs, Shelbs and Bbbb, and The K's. It was quite the drunken trip (to be expected), with the loss of quite a lot of $$$ (also to be expected b/c I was *gambling*), but with a whole hell of a lot of fun tossed in (also to be expected based on the crew that went).
Brother R, Shugs, Blondie and I headed up to Reno and were there by 5 pm or so. We played a bit of blackjack and just tooled around for awhile until everyone else got there. We were up pretty late learning Pai Gaw and shooting Craps. The next day we all got to meet up for champagne brunch (I drank all the champagne and ate none of the food) and then we went and checked out Reno.
I have to say this, Reno is a really nice city. We headed down to the river walk which had a festival going on. We watched the kayak'ers for awhile, and then started back to the hotel. But on the way, we passed a bar that had outdoor music, belly dancers and hula hoopers! We enjoyed extremely cheap local beer, and even had the owner try to give us free cake.
When we got back to the casino, most of us just started gambling again. We eventually met up with Brother R and Shugs for light-on-fire rum drinks, and then all of us went to dinner. Our planned meet-up at 10 pm that night didn't happen as almost all of us were passed out by then.
Bay To Breakers...
Yesterday:
10:15 am: "I'm not sure I want to go"
10:30 am: "GIVE ME A BEER!!!! NAKED PEOPLE!!!!"
3:30 pm: "Tommy's!!!!!! MARGARITAS!"
6:00 pm: passed out on couch
How I feel today.... (Pic taken by my sis)

Super Pooh...
Mr Pooh ran his first half-marathon yesterday!!!! Congratulations Mr Pooh! You did an awesome job, and we are so happy for you!
Cray Cray Uncle: "Hey Kim. Show me your t*ts"
Random Man: "Sir! This is a family channel!"
Blondie and I went with my family a few years ago for a week to Havasu. While there, we toured all over Arizona including a trip to the Grand Canyon. We were in 2 cars for this trip, so there were walkie-talkies involved. Since my entire family is basically a giant bunch of 12 year olds (me included), it was extremely funny when my Cray Cray Uncle said into a walkie-talkie the above statement. It was even funnier when a random who happened to be on our same channel said the other above statement back.
And speaking of showing your t*ts, I'm taking a trip at the end of May to New Orleans with my mom and sis! I'm very excited about it, mostly b/c I've never been to New Orleans sober. So maybe this time, I'll actually remember what I've done.
I definitely am going to get my palm read, and take a voodoo tour. I'm also going to eat some beignets. Oh, and also, even though I'm going to remain sober, I'm still going to drink a hurricane.
Migration Week has ended!!!
My project went live last weekend, and we've spent this past week cleaning up what was left. I'm really happy the project is done (whew), and am MORE THAN READY to move on to whatever is next for me. I've already been contacted by the team I used to work with to see if I can help out on a project, and my boss has slated me for helping out on a project that would look awesome on my resume. Bring. It. On.
Happy Birthday Blondie!
Brother R and Shugs will be out in 2 weeks to help celebrate Blondie's birthday. We will be headed to Reno with some of our friends and gambling/drinking all weekend.
And congrats again to Mr Pooh.

It's been awhile...
THE GOOD: RENO WAS A BLAST! Blondie and I had so much fun hanging out for our mini-break, we didn't even make it to Carson City b/c we didn't want to leave our casino. We rule. And then, on Sunday, when we were headed home, the pass over the Sierra Nevada's had closed down (snow), so we ended up turning around and staying another night in Reno. The best part was our room got comped. Can you tell we like to gamble?
THE BAD: Brother R is no longer working in San Jose. Sigh. I didn't realize how much I missed being around family (I miss them everyday of my life, but wasn't aware how much I miss them) until Brother R was here on a regular basis. Shugs gets him back for now, but hopefully there will be another project on his plate that will bring him back this way.
Blondie also made a trip back to The Land of Cheese to visit his family, celebrate his niece's 1-year birthday, and see his uncle get married. He'll have to fill everyone in on that trip.
While Blondie was gone, I enjoyed a weekend of debauchery. I met Party C and Miss HK on that Thursday to watch some NCAA games (congrats Mizzou!), and then headed to Berkeley on Saturday to hang with PC. She ended up coming back over Saturday night and we partied on Sunday all over the place.
This past weekend was also a good one - Blondie and I went to Sweetie J's for some most excellent food on Friday, before heading back to Haight with Party C and Dirty Sanchez to hang at our fav bar with our fav bartender. And I got back over to Berkeley on Sunday with my girls for brunch and a few beers in the sun.
This week is a draining one - I'm teaching training classes all week long, and it's a very tiring experience. I feel way worse than when I taught in grad school. Plus I'm coming down with some cold or sinus or something. It's knocking me on my ass.
We have some exciting plans coming up - my old boss is in the city today so I hopefully will get to meet her for a drink tonight, and then din din with Shelbs and Bbbb tomorrow night. I'm meeting my old Travelocity work group on Friday for some lunch - I'm looking forward to that as I haven't seen everyone in almost a year! We got a group together to go back to Reno in May for Blondie's birthday, including Brother R and Shugs. So many exciting things are on our table...

San Francisco...
Via San Jose, Reno, Carson City, and Reno again.
We need a break. So we are taking one. I'm meeting Blondie in about an hour and we are driving down to San Jose to visit with Brother R for the evening. We will be making a quick stop back in the city tonight to sleep, and then we are off bright and early tomorrow am to head to Reno for the weekend!
We plan to gamble and watch NCAA games all day Friday, and then visit Carson City (the capital of NV - I bet my mom is the only person who knows this) on Saturday. Carson City is having a beer fest downtown, and for $10 you get a commerative mug and all you can eat apps, and beer. TOTALLY worth it.
I'm looking forward to our mini-break!
Baby Vegas, Baby!

KY...
What a great trip to see everyone! Our flight back was super early last Thursday, but Brother R was nice enough to give Blondie his 1st class seat, and ride coach with Yours Truly. The flight felt like it went really fast, and it did, b/c we even landed 30 mins early. Love the tradewinds when flying east!
TCKITW didn't remember me, which I expected. She ended up hiding from me 95% of the time, which was actually smart b/c all I wanted to do was ruffle her hair and kiss the top of her head. Oh, and also, apparently I turned into my mom as I also kept attempting to run my fingers over TCKITW's neck (which is something my mom does that drives me nuts).
TCKITW v4.0 however didn't seem to mind me too much. Of course, she is only 7 weeks old. She is a definite looker, and a total chatterbox also. She kept trying to tell everyone stories but mostly the stories sounded like "gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh".
So now my heart is claimed by those 2 boogers.
Our trip, other than hanging with the nieces, rocked. We ended up bowling, where somehow we ALL did pretty good, and hanging out for a night of Rock Band at Mr and Mrs Pooh's house. I love when Mrs Pooh plays guitar, b/c she is very calm and stands very still when she does it. I tend to sway back and forth and kick my leg (thanks to PC) . "They" (the Poohs, Brother R, Blondie) ended up calling me Corky a lot b/c apparently I can't drum with my left hand.
We also had a game day at Brother R's house, which was a lot of fun. Other than the excessive amount of gas floating around the room.
And, yes, I've gone back to eating meat. Unfortunately it makes me feel like I need to throw up about 5 hours after I eat it (and I did throw up several times in KY), so it's very slow going right now.
Brother R is coming up to SF tonight to hang out and grab some dinner, and I'm totally looking forward to it! Plans for the weekend include sleeping, seeing a movie with friends, sleeping, grocery shopping, and did I mention sleeping?

Ready to go!!!!
Happy V-Day everyone!!!! Hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day! Hugs and kisses to my beautiful nieces - TCKITW V1.0-4.0; and to my family and friends (but you all will just get hugs).
The past weekend was pretty good - I was *exhausted* from last Wed - from my 3am start time, that led straight into 11:20 am, when I had to run down and catch a bus to downtown for a personal meeting, and then straight back to our apt where I did a quick workout, finally ate lunch, and then immediately took off for south bay. It was soooooo good seeing Brother R though! We had a most excellent dinner (with most excellent sangria), and then shot pool into the evening.
Friday I came home though and crashed, slept for 11 hours. Then on Saturday we said a pseudo good-bye to PC as she moved across the bay to Berkeley. It was a sad day in SF. But it got better b/c after the move, Blondie took me for doughnuts and sushi for V-Day. It was so perfect!!!
Yesterday we met up with PC for lunch (she was back in the city to finish cleaning up her old apartment) and then it was back to our house to literally lay on the couch all afternoon long.
But, now I'm READY TO GO!!!! Brother R will be driving up on Wed night to SF, and we are going to have some fun, and then Thurs morning, for the first time since last July, we are off to KY for the weekend. Brother R got on our same flight, and I'm totally looking forward to seeing everyone again and meeting TCKITW V4.0 for the first time! I'm *NOT* looking forward to the 3:30 am wake up for the flight though.
Oh well, can't win everytime. :)

A new perspective... A great weekend... A happy week...
I've sworn through my teeth for 21 years now that I hate skiing. And it was true. I loathed skiing. The whole 1 time I went, skiing overnight, at 13, without lessons - truly truly sucked. BUT, I'm attempting to figure myself out this year - and that will be involving why there are things that I won't do, or won't attempt to do - and one of those things is skiing.
Having said that, Blondie and I went up to Reno on Thurs and spent the night. We call it "Baby Vegas Baby". Reno was like the poor man's Vegas - which is exactly what we needed. The rooms were cheap (the hotels/casinos were super nice though), the gambling was cheap, the food was cheap and the beer was free. We had a great night playing craps and blackjack, and didn't want to leave on Friday.
But I'm glad we did, b/c we drove back into CA/Tahoe area, and took some ski lessons at one of the ski slopes. And guess what? I actually really liked it! I only fell a few times, but I felt in control of everything by the time our lessons were done. It was also a great workout, and I could feel it all through my legs all weekend long. So for all my bitching and moaning for 21 years, I could've been out there perfecting my skiing skills and having a blast. :) I will be back.
After skiing, we met up with 12 of our friends in our rented house for the weekend. We ended up hitting the casinos on Saturday again, and just enjoying everyone's company. It truly was the best weekend I've had in awhile.
And for the best news - Brother R is now working in the bay area!!!! He will be flying in for the week, and flying out for the weekend. This is the first time in 11 years that I will have lived in the same state as someone in my family. Blondie and I are off tomorrow afternoon to his city (San Jose) to hang out for the afternoon and eat some dinner with Brother R. SO LOOKING FORWARD TO IT!!!!

I've got nothing...
The title says it all - a post about nothing.
Blondie and I ran the Kaiser 5K this past Sunday. We both wore our Garmin watches and it turned out that the 3.1 mile course was really between 3.29 and 3.31 miles. To be fair, Kaiser did say that only the half-marathon course was certified, and the 5K course was not. But still.
Blondie did *amazing*, and ran it in 27:12, which would've been about 26:30 for a certified 5K. I did mine in 43 minutes (ha, nice job). But it would've equated to about 40-41 minutes for me. I've been tracking my time on my Garmin also, so although my time sucked, I was able to see that I kept my pace up much better than I have been. So that was 1 upside.
After our 5K, it was off to the Sisters C to watch the Superbowl.
For those who I'm on Facebook with, here is my "25 Things About Me", but it's not on Facebook (as I'm too lazy to pull it up right now), and I doubt it's going to be 25 things - but we'll see:
1) I don't like kids, but am madly in love with my nieces and they can do NO wrong.
2) I love my cats, and will carry on entire conversations with them (filling in their piece of course).
3) I love SF, but have got a giant bug up my butt to live in NYC for awhile.
4) I hate running. Hate it.
5) I'm trying not to hate running. It's not working so far. And has never worked.
6) My favorite beverages are beer and water. Honestly, if that's all I could ever drink again, I'd be fine with that.
7) I love when Blondie wears a blue shirt. It makes his eyes look infinite (sappy sappy sappy)
8) I love not having a car, and if I never own one again, I'd be fine with that.
9) Even though I love not having a car, I miss supermarkets with giant parking lots.
10) Even though I love not having a car, I miss gyms with giant parking lots.
11) I miss my family every single day of my life.
12) I miss my BFF TT every single day of my life.
13) I'm addicted to the SATC movie.
14) I'm also addicted to memoirs at the moment (read anything Jennifer Lancaster has written - she's bitterly funny).
15) My new nervous habit is cracking my right thumb - at least I'm not picking my teeth with my hair anymore.
16) In my wildest dreams, I'm a size 4 - but in real life, I'd be happy maintaining a size 10.
17) When I'm done in SF (or NYC), I will live in Chicago.
18) If I could vacation in only 1 place for the rest of my life... Vegas baby... Vegas. It's got everything anyone could want - pools, heat, gambling, free beer, shows... It's my dream city.
19) If I could do it all over again, I'd be a large animal vet (horses, cows, etc) - I couldn't deal with putting down pets, but could probably deal with handling larger animals.
20) I'd love to be vegan, but probably would die without sushi. Well, not die, but I definitely would make life miserable for Blondie if I couldn't get my sushi.
21) I'm listening to "Dani California" while I'm typing this - California, show your teeth.
22) I NEVER want to relive my high school years again. They were NOT the happiest of my life.
23) In the same vein, I love my life more each year - it's like wine or cheese, it keeps getting better with age.
24) Unfortunately my body does not get better with age.
25) I MADE IT TO 25!!!!!

Tiddlywinks!
This past week saw a visit from Blondie's brother, MG. MG flew in for a wedding, but was able to take some time off from school to hang with Blondie for a few days before and after the wedding. It was great getting to spend time with MG, and I *KNOW* Blondie had fun with the non-stop game playing that went on.
I've been working for 4 hours now - the last remnants of my old job. I have to train people from my old team on how to do this particular aspect of my old job, and let me say, it's not going well. This is because of course I JINXED it by telling everyone "oh this should be fast and easy". And it's neither been fast nor easy. Woot! And I'm going to guess after all this that we will have to fall back and do it all over again another day.
We have a lot of plans for the upcoming weeks: 5K, Superbowl (Go Steelers!), Reno for a night and then Tahoe for 2 days for skiing, helping a friend move to Berkeley (I'm going to miss me some PC!), Valentine's Day, and of course KY to visit TCKITW and TCKITW v4.0 and my fam.
Also, randomly, a reason I love Blondie so much is that we both find the stupidest things in the world amusing. Last night it was the word "balls". We were watching coverage of the inaugaration balls, and anytime an announcer would say balls, we would just die laughing. We. Are. So. Mature!

Fish... and your butt...
So, okay. Universe, I was totally kidding about the whole "Bring it on" thing in my NY resolution post. You've had your fun.
Blondie and I have not had the best start to the year - Blondie's catalytic converter was stolen off his truck, and I came down with "the sick" again. We've spent the last week holed up in our apartment, cursing the way the year has started.
I rejoined WW this past week, and getting back on track has been horrid. Especially when I've been sicker than a dog, and all I want to do is EAT. But I survived the first few days (always the hardest). I managed to get a run in the day the sick started again, and am feeling okay enough to do a minor workout tomorrow.
Blondie and I also signed up for Kaiser 5K on Superbowl Sunday. Party C will be running the Kaiser half the same day, so we will do our run, and then cheer her on.
We also have Tahoe plans the weekend after Superbowl. We are going to head up to Reno on that Thurs, and spend the night, before heading to our Tahoe house on Friday. I might try ski lessons this time, and Blondie has plans to snowboard again.
And of course, KY, to visit TCKITW v4.0!!!!
Hope everyone else's year has started off better than ours.
